Great claim processing and reimbursement experiences
My dog recently injured her leg and we had to take her to the vet. I didn't submit the claim right away because we were focused on helping her recover from her injury and I actually forgot about it. A couple of weeks later, I found the vet receipt and submitted my claim - within two weeks the claim was processed, and my reimbursement had already been deposited into my account. This is a consistent experience with claim processing, and Pets Best is the best pet insurance that we've had for our animals in the last 20 years.

Peace of Mind, Easy Claims
We had a recent scare when our dog became very ill after-hours. Knowing we had insurance with good coverage and a specified deductible eased our minds about taking her into the ER and a subsequent follow-up with our vet. Having a sick pet is stressful enough without worrying about how quickly the costs can add up. I was able to upload our bills via the app and the claims were reviewed and resolved quickly. Everything was covered as expected and the explanations were very clear to understand.

Very Poor Company
MetLife denied my claim for vet recommended testing costing $2488 for my new rescue dog. MetLife sent me a short note saying my dog's issue was pre-existing based on notes prior to my taking in the rescue. I had received no information on the dog, purchased MetLife before my first vet visit but they found information from the previous owner's vet (that I did not have when I purchased the insurance) and refused my claim.

Will deny expensive claims
I rescued another dog in 2024. Received no information so purchased MetLife Pet Insurance before any vet visits. Visits went to my deductible. My vet received vet notes from prior owner and I submitted everything. My vet recommended tests for an issue that cost $2488. MetLife let me pay down on my deductible but when this would go into reimbursement, MetLife denied the claim saying "pre-existing". They can, and will, claim anything expensive as pre-existing in order to not pay out.

Met Life is the best
I have had to do two claims now for my cat and both times they were very helpful, professional and courteous. I was able to get my claim in and processed very fast and when a small issue came up, I was able to call them and get it taken care of right away with the same great customer service that I have experienced with them before. They are very personable, and I have had nothing but great experiences with them. I am very happy to have MetLife as my pet insurance. I have recommended some of my friends to them also.

THE WORST! - Pets Best
Unacceptably poor customer/claims service. Extremely slow processing - close to a month. And, I'm still waiting for my direct deposit - over 1 week! Multiple phone calls - on hold for 30+ min and haphazard email response with no information of value. Will be contacting the BBB and cancelling my policy.

Met Life has been Amazing- Totally recommend them
I have had Met life for both my sibling dogs for 8 years and have had 0 trouble with getting my claims paid. Total transparency. When I have called with questions they have been super friendly and always explained things in a manner I totally understood and was ok with as per my policy that I picked. My premiums did go up and down per my use of them as insurance does remember. But I highly recommend this insurance company and will get them again when we get other dogs in the future.

Excellent and efficient two years in.
I had PetPlan/Fetch for 17 years or so and after they imploded switched to MetLife. I have had three young dogs covered by MetLife (including wellness), two of them since eight weeks and another I switched at around age five. MetLife has been very prompt at reimbursing and very good about reimbursing everything covered by the plan (read your policy!!!).
The wellness plan has been a surprisingly great deal for us and seems to be the best of its kind in the industry.
My five-year-old became very ill with lymphoma after a few months on the plan and they were still fantastic about covering the costs of her treatment and testing. They also covered an emergency visit ($1500) for extreme diarrhea and vomiting of one of my pups.
Submitting claims is extremely easy. Reimbursement for straightforward, routine things like vaccines comes in about two business days, more elaborate issues can take up to two weeks in my experience. Submitting your vet's treatment notes yourself will speed the process along, but they will contact the vet and get the information if you do not.
Policyholders have the ability to consult with a vet 24/7 through the app which can be super helpful if you need guidance on small things or to determine if you need to head to an emergency vet.
We had only one issue with them and that was after my five-year-old died. I had had her and my pup on a "family plan" and when she died, I was not informed that the plan would be rewritten to a single plan, and thus I had to fulfill my deductible again. But overall, we have been extremely happy with MetLife, and highly recommend them if you have the ability to front payment for treatment until you are reimbursed..

Should be named Pets Worst
I filed three claims with them after my waiting period was over.
The first was for an allergic reaction related to an MCT, which was accepted and paid part of my deductible.
The second was for a follow up visit due to continued health problems from the first claim. Suddenly the MCT is pre-existing and they denied my claim.
The third claim was for a righty to remove the MCT and a benign fatty tumor. Again my claim was denied because they decided the MCT was now pre-existing and in addition decided the benign fatty tumor was pre-existing as well.
I want to make it clear that the MCT itself was not diagnosed until a wellness exam that occurred after the waiting period. Seems to me they just didn’t want to accept the last two claims because I would have then met my deductible and they would have had to pay out on the third claim. They want to take your money and not help your pet.
