Quick and Easy
Claim submission online was relatively quick and easy although the upload process for documents proved a little quirky.

Rudyboo
We have had TruPanion since 2013, the year my boys were born. I can’t say enough about their customer service, compassion and all over knowledge. We’ve used it maybe 4 or 5 times over that last eleven years but we’re always so grateful we had it. Has saved us literally thousands of dollars. Really worth trying to fit it into your budget, as I have as a senior on Social Security, but my boys are worth every penny. Thank you, TruPanion, from Rudy and Bandit, too!

So Easy
I am amazed at how easy and convenient Trupanion is. Best investment I've made for my pups and their health.
Now, if only my health insurance was this easy.

Misleading
I recently switched to Metlife pet insurance because all over their website they claim to process claims quickly. Everything was great to start, i was quickly reimbursed for my first claim and everything was going well. But it was clearly too good to be true because that’s when things hit the fan, my puppy was recently diagnosed with bronchitis, all the vet expenses ended up costing $1000+ but i wasn’t worried about it because I thought i had great pet insurance that I thought would reimburse us quickly. I was wrong, to start i’ve been waiting 3 weeks for my claim to be processed, when i had reached out to figure out what’s the hold up, they stated they need notes from doctor, usually they just contact the vet themselves which had not at all been done and no one communicated to me at all while waiting, that that was the reason for the hold up. So i got the notes myself and submitted them on my own, the first rep that i spoke with stated that once the notes were submitted that the processing would be expedited, that was a lie because the rep I spoke with after that said they do not expedite that process and she had no clue what the processing time would be. Again at this point i’ve been waiting 3 weeks despite them advertising 5 day and on the site it says 5-10 days. It’s been way longer than that and i feel like my times being wasted and im very frustrated with the lying and misleading nature from customer support. I feel like you can’t really fulfill your claims of being quick with processing claims, maybe don’t advertise that you are and lie to perspective customers.

Healthy Paws for the win!
When our three-year-old healthy cat suddenly had a major medical emergency, we didn’t think twice about getting her the care she needed. We quickly wracked up about $7,500 in vet bills, seeing a specialist and doing multiple tests. We had never submitted an insurance claim for a pet before, and we were nervous. Thank goodness we chose Healthy Paws to cover her when she was still a kitten! They reimbursed us for everything we expected, given the plan we chose. I can’t thank Healthy Paws enough for how easy they made the process and how quickly they processed our claims! It was a relief to know we wouldn’t have to shoulder the financial burden alone, and we were able to focus on helping our kitty recover. Thankfully, she is doing much better now and we are grateful to have our family member back to her sweet, playful self.

Pet's Worst.
This is the worst pet insurance company I've ever worked with. It takes them literal MONTHS to process simple claims, and they deny every single one of them. I paid so much for insurance and never did get reimbursed for even one cent. Ever. Their rates are cheaper than some of the others, but that's because they don't pay out on claims. You're not saving any money by choosing Pet's "Best".
Try Nationwide or Spot ... much better.

Amazing!
I just can not give this company enough praise. I want to say that I have never had any sort of medical instance for as quickly and stress free, dog or human.
In a very quick turn of events we went from seeing a vet for a consult to our dog having surgery. It was such an easy process and the staff at the hospital told us the Trupanion was the best. “They are super quick with pre-approvals and usually settle within a day.”
You never know when you purchase insurance, will it really be what they are selling? But we had gotten the 90/10 ratio coverage for our French Bulldog. And yes, they paid 90% of the bill.
With our deductable and our co-pay we paid about 1,000$ on a 6400$ bill. I can’t tell you how important it is to get pet insurance. I can’t imagine having to sit in that room, hear what your pet needs and wonder if you have enough money in your savings for it. Or if you have a credit card with enough to cover it. Something that could have been stressful was just not a worry. I kept saying, “no problem, we have good insurance” and they truly proved it.
I will always have pet insurance and it will always be with Trupanion!

Emergency surgery claim
The process to submit a claim was simple. I think that one thing that could be improved is communication. There was some missing documentation and instead of being alerted via email I had to dig around in the app to figure out why the process had stalled. I'm still awaiting approval of the claim, fingers crossed.

Stay Away from Trupanion
Horrible company. Supervisor just told me their relationship with area hospitals is more important than the patients & account holders. I pay alot every month for my dogs to have insurance. But they rather my dog suffer than them address an issue. Shame on Trupanion!

So glad I purchased this insurance.
2 years ago I purchased Embrace insurance, I was not happy with them. After joining a Facebook pet insurance group, I read up on peoples posts and replies. I saw a few insurance policies that looked interesting to me, I called several of them and ultimately chose Met life Pet. My coverage includes wellness, illness, and accident, it was 250.00 deductible and 0 dollars out of pocket once I met the 250.00 deductible. My coverage was 5k per cat ( I have 2) total of 10K. One of my cats developed colitis, and the monthly prescription is 100% covered because it was not a per-existing condition.
My experience with submitting claims has been seamless when using the phone app. I am able to send claims on the computer as well.
Customer service has been fantastic by phone and email. It is best to call for the best policy quote, CS reps are very knowledgeable when speaking by phone.
I have heard that the coverage available have changed, but it is still a good deal.
I am very happy with the insurance!!
