Customer Service rep on the phone was outstanding
For my initial phone call, my customer service rep was exceptional. She was curtious, professional and knowledgeable. My dog had just died unexpectedly and it was heartbreaking for us and she was extremely empathetic. She deserves a 10.
The email I just got however, was like getting punched in the stomach. You really should check your claims before sending out a "hope your dog is feeling better" email like I just got. It was definitely like pouring salt in an open wound as we are all still reeling after Max's death.

Fast and easy process
The claim process was quite easy and I received a check in the mail within a week. However the Lyme disease rapid test was classified as a vaccine in my EOB so it was not covered. I’m not sure it’s worth the effort to file a dispute.

Excellent Service During a Stressful Time
A few months ago I was absolutely heartbroken when I suddenly had to put one of my 2 sibling kittens to sleep after an FIP diagnosis. Nationwide was so kind and understanding when I called to cancel the policy I had just gotten for the kitten who passed. Since my other kitten, Turbo, is such a social kitten, I knew i had to adopt a friend for him. A few weeks later, I brought home Maverick. He and Turbo have been best buddies ever since. Recently, Maverick became lethargic, had no appetite, and began having severe respiratory congenstion. Despite not being able to take him to the normal vet I use, Nationwide made the claims process so simple and really took a huge burden off my shoulders so I could just focus on making sure Maverick made a full recovery, which he thankfully has! Now he and Turbo play with each other around the clock and I have peace of mind that my 2 fur babies are covered.

Great
My CD hurt her minyskis in her knee and we were very up set then realized we had Nationwide insurance for all my pets and we felt better because we didn't have to worry about a bill to get her to the doctor. At Nation wide you pay the vet bill then nationwide re reimburses you for the visit,all you need to do is send a copy of the vet bill paid with the receipt. Nationwide Pet is piece of mind.

I wish you did human health insurance!
It shouldn't be a novelty to have a company do exactly what they promise but I am always astounded by the efficiency, ease and speed with which Nationwide settles its claims. Usually these are for well visits, and preventative treatments. This time however one of our dogs impaled her foot on a metal spike, which some idiot had dumped in the woods, on her daily run at the very start of the corona lockdown. Two surgeries and 38 visits to the vet later, her bills were over $4000. I submitted the claims in two batches. Each time minus my deductible I was reimbursed in full directly in to my bank account within eight business days of my mailing the claims. I could check at any time for the status of my claim online and the final explanation of benefits was crystal clear. I called midway through her treatment to speak to customer service to check if I could submit a claim before her treatment was complete. I was put through to a representative immediately who was able to answer my question. No putting on hold for 15 minutes and then being told no one was available at this time. No one questioned my claim, asked for it to be resubmitted, said it wasn't pre-approved, said it was out-of-network, said it was unnecessary treatment or basically came up with any excuse they could to justify not reimbursing my claim under the average for which I had in good faith paid my premium. And this was all during the corona pandemic shut down. Imagine if human health care in this country was run in the way that Nationwide runs its pet insurance. Yes the premiums seem a lot each month - we have four pets under it - especially when everyone is injury free and healthy - - but I would recommend Nationwide every single time. They don't make excuses. They do exactly what they say they will. I love them!

Trupanion is the real deal
So far I have been very happy with this insurance company. We took out the coverage for our adopted puppy on the recommendation of our Vet and we are glad we did.
