My first experience with pet insurance and I'm very pleased

I just had my first experience with any kind of pet insurance ad when we took him to the Pet ER, my expectations were that the claims process would be painful... I couldn't have been more wrong... After ascertaining some additional information from the Pet ER, the claim was paid promptly and the money deposited directly into my bank account. I hope we won't need to file any further claims, but it's nice to know the process is relatively painless!

Ownership Confusion

Hobbes policy information got messed up when my former wife and I transferred ownership from me to her and then reversed the ownership back to me. Some claims were caught in the system and not paid. No one’s fault. Just a process SNAFU. Once I got the right person on the phone she pushed all the right buttons and BAM; everything was fixed, the checks were cut and have been received. Great job.

Bullied and Threatened by Agent/Underwriter

Let me you about my experience as a loyal ASPCA Pet Health Insurance policy for 11 YEARS. I was just bullied and threatened by an agent/underwriter. I called asking about coverage benefits for my dog "who is 11, pushing 12, and not getting around as well as normal.” I was told that my dog would have a preexisting condition and therefore ineligible for alternative care. I asked what preexisting condition. The AGENT - NOT the VET - then diagnosed my dog as "arthritic." I countered and said that the dog has NEVER EVEN been seen for ARTHRITIS. The agent/underwriter then made a threatening statement and said that I had admitted my dog wasn't moving around as fast as normal and that the underwriters will review this phone call and any veterinary notes. If there is one mention of "arthritis" she told me the animal will not qualify for a comprehensive plan that covers alternative therapy. What a rip. And to think I've actually recommended this corporate, monster machine (that preys on the emotions of pet owners) to others. NEVER. AGAIN. ASPCA, I hope your'e recording.

Quick Claims and Awesome Customer service

Hartville has really saved us! Both our dogs are insured, and although our boy is super healthy and hardly has to utilize it, our girl on the other hand was diagnosed with dysplasia at a young age and Hartville has been amazing with their support. Claims are paid out quickly, most of our needs are covered by the policy and they have even called to check up on her progress. I would recommend this company to anyone with a new pet!

Highly recommend

My Shepherd dog, Ranger, was attacked by Javelinas one evening when we were going to the mailbox. I live in the desert. He sustained many large severe lacerations and bites all over his body. I rushed him to the Emergency Vet where he had 3 hours of surgery. The bill was $2256 but after my $250 deductible I paid only $225. I've had the accident policy on both my dogs for 2 years and I was going to cancel the policy on Ranger because he is old and hardly goes out. This goes to show you that accidents can happen with no warning at any time. The $9.00 a month premium was well worth it. I highly recommend this accident policy to anyone who loves their pets.

Decisions explained clearly

The claims process has always been very easy and straight forward. All decisions on previous claims submitted were clearly explained in the documentation provided in the emails sent.

Satisfied Customer

Very happy with the service and coverages. Might I suggest a way to submit claims via e-mail instead of only fax and US mail? Haven't used a fax machine in years.
