“Exam” Not Covered

I bought a Trupanion policy when my golden was 1. A friend had recommended your company after you quickly paid a claim arising from an accidental that befell his dog. My now almost five years old golden was diagnosed with. lymphoma one month ago. He is under the care of a terrific oncologist in Grand Rapids . The treatment protocol calls for weekly injections or pills followed by biweekly injections or pills. At each visit, the oncologist, of course, must examine our dog to determine how he is responding to the treatment; e.g. are his lymph nodes still enlarged. This is an obvious and necessary part of treating any disease but you choose to deny reimbursement of this element of the treatment simply because it’s coded as “exam”. I think this is wrong and petty. I get the denial of a routine physical exam, but this is anything but that; it is a critical part of the treatment of a very serious illness and you should pay the claim for it.

Paid for very expensive surgery

My cat Wilbur had a series of urinary blockages which resulted in him needing surgery and eventually he needed to be put down as there was nothing left to do. Pets best did reimburse me about $7,000 out of $8,000 that all of his medical bills cost. My only complaint is it took them almost a month to do this despite their claim of only taking 4-5 days. This was with me doing providing all possible information I could to speed up the process. However they did reimburse and cover a great deal of expenses and I didn't have to fight for any of it so all in all worthwhile even if there was an unfortunate outcome.

The site is user friendly

The site is user friendly. I'm kept up to date on processing thru timely emails. I'm also flagged promptly when there are processing delays. Haven't reached my deductible yet so can't give feedback on the payment process. Overall I am very satisfied.

sunday visis

Was very relieved to be reimbursed for our visit on a Sunday. Mac was diagnosed with a back issue and had to have x rays. Not only was I relieved our vet (& friend) took the time for an emergency on a Sunday, but SO happy to received a check which helped cover a good part of the charges. Poor Mac has seemed to have issue after issue. It gives a sense of relief to know we have some help in covering what would be very high costs. Thank you!
