Excellent Responsiveness, Questionable Increases
I've had only great experiences with MetLife pet insurance in terms of phone responsiveness and ease of making a claim. My only concern is that my rate went up 40% in one year, and no one was able to adequately explain that large increase. I understand my dog is one year older and veterinarian care in TN may have increased from last year, but FORTY PERCENT?!?!? Still a better price than most, though the increase did cause me to shop around a bit. We'll see what next year bring...

Best decision we ever made!
Our young rescue dog suddenly developed a neurological issue requiring many visits to specialists and a high level of care. He is living his very best dog life thanks to Pets Best - it allows us to give him treatments and care we would not be able to afford without this insurance. Everyone is always helpful and the claims process is very easy.

Premium increase
Well, while I am grateful that I have been reimbursed for some of the vet costs, I am very surprised that Trupanion Canada has just sent notice of a 27% increase in monthly premium, and has gotten the information on the most recent claims wrong, and has not yet replied with any explanations. Their website assures that premiums only go up when costs increase in 'my area' generally, not specifically, but 27% is excessive, especially when combined with a drop in customer service quality.

Claim time
Waiting 3-6 weeks on a claim is un exceptional, you are going thru some computer change and your excuarent adding up
I have 2 dogs and I have 1. Kai. Submitted and paid in 24 hours and another dog claim take 4-6 weeks on the the same issue and same bills , this bios by your system slicking and choosing what gets paid .
I have been a customer for 5,5 years in the past 3 months this is been going on. No one in your customer service cares all they say is sorry we have a lot of claims which mean you have more business so you have more in I e so you need to hire more employees or computer robots that filter the claims faster cause it can be paid in 24 hours as I have proof.

Rate increase from $57/month to $161/month, 0 claims.
I originally purchased my policy when my puppy was around 6 months old. I asked about rates and rate increases and was told that there would be minor rate increases but by insuring early I’m locking in a rate for low risk factors.
My dog is now 7 years old and my renewal summary show next years rate at $161.18/month for the first 5 years rate increase were reasonable. After 5 years I was paying around $70/month, but the last few have been steep jumps.
This is the explanation for my new rate.
“Why your price is changing
As your pet gets older, their risk of getting sick or hurt goes up, which means they cost more to insure. Your pet’s breed and the cost of veterinary care in your area can also be a factor.”
I would suggest self insuring, I plan to for my next pet.
If you do want to opt for pet insurance, I recommend asking for a brake down of premiums by age of your breed so that you can make a proper assessment of what you’ll be signing up for.

Confidence in Challenging Times
Pets Bets has never let me down. When my best friend became ill on multiple occasions, I was able to confidently seek the best care knowing that the financial side of things would be significantly helped. Please do you and your pet a favor and carry insurance for the unknown. Also recommend Care Credit or another 0% line of credit to minimize out of pocket expenses initially and then have time to pay back any deductibles. These decisions have given me priceless years of healthy and happy bonus time with my pal.
