Making chemotherapy affordable
My 9 year old Rotti-mix has recurrent lymphoma (was in remission and came back). Without insurance I woud be in a very difficult position; deciding whether we could afford his chemotherapy treatments. Embrace has been great; paying promptly for his 16 treatments the first time and paying again now that the cancer has returned. Over all they've been a pleasure to deal with.

Did Not Cover Dental Procedure Related to Oral Car
I am a new client of Pets Best and would like to share my experience filing a recent claim.
On December 10, 2012, I brought my Siamese cat, Violet, to my vet for her annual wellness check, where he noted an enlarged node in her jaw and two abnormal teeth. Upon extraction, he aspirated the lymph node and we were stunned to receive a diagnosis of metastatic carcinoma.
Within three weeks, she had to be euthanized, because a mass had invaded her upper jaw. When I submitted the relatively modest bills to Pets Best, they excluded the dental extractions, which were the bulk of the bill. They did cover the euthanasia and cancer medications. I received less than $250.00 back on a total bill of nearly $600.00. Part of that ($23.) was the result of a Level I appeal that I filed.
I will say that the representatives have been very nice, and the reimbursements were processed and received in a timely fashion. However, although everyone agrees that the abnormal teeth were a result of a tumor in the jaw, Pets Best has held fast to the position that NO dentistries are covered unless they involve broken or abcessed teeth needing extraction.
Ironically, had I opted to subject Violet to aggressive chemotherapy, involving thousands of dollars, it would have been covered. Yet, this brief catastrophic illness received only minimal reimbursement because of a policy that does not allow for any extenuating circumstances. Not only did I lose my cat, but I have spent time and energy di

Have Pet Insurance or Not To have Pet Insurance
I just brought home a rescue dog a week and a half ago. I asked many pet owner friends of what they thought about pet insurance all in all I recieved alot of negative reactions from them but always in the last part of the conversation they would proceed to tell me how much money they plunked down for their pets illness's. Bottom line is I did alot of research on different policies. I chose Embrace, which so far I am quite pleased. They correspond quickly and expeditiously. I am waiting for my first reimbursement which they just told me is on its way for the wellness coverage. So far very pleased and so glad I purchased a policy from them.

So far so good
I've had ASPCA pet insurance for about 6 months now. I've taken my French Bulldog for 2 separate issues. An eye infection and wart that had grown on her back leg.
Both issues were re-imbursed as promised. Claims were processed within a reasonable time frame. It was very nice to be able to view the status of these online. also nice was that my vet filed the claim and any issues were handled between my vet and ASPCA. Didnt have to put any of my time on the phone etc.

Great Claim Processing
I signed up both of my dogs with Healthy Paws in 2012. Their rates are not the cheapest ($55/month for 9 y/o maltese), but their coverage is great and their claims process is excellent. We have 90% coverage and $100 deductible for our maltese. She got Pancreatitis and was in a lot of pain. We took her to our general vet in Jersey City who referred us to the Blue Pearl in Manhattan. Vet services are significantly more expensive in the NYC metro area. She was admitted for 1 night in ICU and 1 night in general boarding. She had all kinds of ultrasounds, medicines and 24 hour supervision. After all was said and done and she was all better, our bills came out to $3551.00. Healthy Paws reimbursed us $2856.06 or 80%. This is below the 90% coverage that we have, but it is factoring in deductibles and things that are not covered, which were only the exam fees. Everything else was covered.
We had to send in all of our pets vet history when we were setting up the policy. That was the only difficult thing we had to do.
Once the claim was submitted, we had it approved the next day and check was received a few days later. Super fast.
Knowing that services are significantly more expensive where we live vs. somewhere in the midwest, my wife and I were expecting for the 90% coverage to be that of a national average or something of that sort, but that was not case. They reimbursed from our submitted invoices.
I looked up the coverage on the insurance offered through my employer (Yes

Insurance removes all cost surprises.
I am glad that I got the insurance for both my dogs. I dont ever want to give them less care than they deserve because the cost is more than I can afford. The insurance gives me the option to take care of my dogs without the worry of a large bill from the vet.

I've never loved an insurance company before . . .
I NEVER write reviews. But I have to compliment and thank Pets Best. Took my dog in for raisin toxicity (don't ask) on Thurs night. Bill came to $1790 (48 hrs emergency care and monitoring). Submitted claim Sunday night, online. Claim processed by Tuesday night. Pets Best is covering $1353. Had this kind of accident once before with VPI. They paid less than $200 out of a $1000 bill. Enough said.
