My boxer Kage has been nothing less than an athlete his whole life, tip top shape. He turned 11 this year and still was bouncing and full of life. I thought pet insurance would be a good idea in case something happens to him like the large kidney stone he got in October last year. I looked on THIS website for about an hour and came to the conclusion that Healthy Paws had WAY more satisfied customers than all the other insurances that I checked out. In April I got him covered for $60 a month. Everything went well but I noticed that he was walking weird and slower about the middle of June, didn't want to get up anymore in the morning, even when I called him. This got worse VERY quickly, to the point where he was sliding all over the floor and randomly falling over. I took him to the vet and ran many extensive tests and turned out he had a brain tumor. Within days he got so bad to the point where I had to put him down, the tumor was inoperable. This was the most difficult thing I ever had to experience. A few days later I contacted Healthy Paws. They were very sympathetic for my loss. Being this was his first claim they needed all of his previous records, I said he had about 6 vets in the past, Healthy Paws offered to contact all of them and handle the paperwork for me to help me out in this sad time. Next they sent me such a nice card filled with everyone's written sympathies from their office... this was so sweet and unexpected, it was so above and beyond what I expected.

Trupanion was quick to respond to submitted claim for surgical treatment, and reimbursement was forthcoming in a relatively short period of time. They fully answered any and all questions I had, relative to the claim to my complete satisfaction. They even inquired as to the outcome of his surgery. I would highly recommend Trupanion.

I had always questioned why I had pet insurance on my dog. He's been healthy as can be and we've only been to the vet for shots, etc. That all changed 3 weeks ago. Giacomo was in the local dog park doing what Italian Greyhounds love to do... run. He was having a great time but things changed in seconds. Tempers flared and the next thing I knew another dog had grabbed him by his throat. I got them apart and raced to the local emergency hospital. He was vomiting blood and had a gash over his left eye. Long story short. Two days in intensive care and a follow up visit to his regular doctor ran up a tab of over $3,000! I have recommend Embrace to my friend that also has had a very hard time with figuring out the right insurance for her dog. I told her that Embrace was the way to go! They are very clear on the benefits and I was surprise on how easy it is to use. I just fill out a very simple claim form and get an e-mail saying what is covered and a check in the mail. I plan to keep spreading the news and will tell my vet also to recommend Embrace as the way to go. So easy and hassle free to work with. When I got my Rottie 9 years ago there was only one or two pet insurance companies available. Now there are several to choose from. I spent over 3 hours comparing the different plans. When I was researching pet insurances, Healthy Paws and Embrace kept coming out at the top of my list. Working in the healthcare field for longer than I care to admit, I knew what I wanted...no annual caps, a reasonable reimbursement rate (vet care in NY is expensive) and an annual not per incident/accident deductible. Healthy Paws hit the bullseye on all accounts. Embrace would not give my girl full coverage due to her age only coverage for accidents. If you are buying pet insurance make sure you check out the fine print. One company charges a deductible for each accident or illness. Who can afford that??? So I signed on with Healthy Paws and am so glad I did. Shortly after the new policy started my girl needed eye surgery. After we hit the annual deductible we had a check in less than a week. They also sent me an email asking how she was doing. I asked them for brochures to put in my vet's office so more people can find out about this company. Have told 3 ladies I work with about it too. The fact that they help rescue animals with their foundation work is the icing on the cake.

My first claim in five years and all went smoothly

Gracie was diagnosed with either a liver shunt or liver disease or both. She need more diagnostics and a liver biopsy to more definitively diagnose her illness. Suffice it to say the cost was in the thousands. At the time, Gracie was only a year and a half old and deserved a chance at a healthy life. Thank goodness for Healthy Paws. We now know that she has a small amount of liver displasia that can be controlled with medication and diet. Healthy Paws quickly sorted through my claim. I received a check in the mail within a week or two. I never had pet insurance for my other dogs. I wish I had. I will never adopt another dog without buying pet insurance. I would definitely recommend Healthy Paws.
