So far my experience has been good. For awhile, I had one dog with PetPlan and another dog on Trupanion. When I compared the differences in what is accepted by each company and how each company reimburses pet owners, PetPlan always came out better. If I remember correctly, I thought it might be affected mostly by PetPlan covering the vet visit charge. My dog on PetPlan saw many specialists and the $150 was covered after my deductible many, many times. That was very helpful for us. However, PetPlan resets the deductible for each ongoing condition each year. As Trupanion only requires a deductible once for a chronic condition, I can see over time it might be a big benefit. I am only giving an 8 right now because people have warned me that Trupanion is more picky about conditions than other companies. I have not yet found that to be the case, but also have had very few claims. I will be happy to fill out more surveys in the future and give Trupanion a 10 if I am pleased with the insurance.

I got Nationwide pet insurance from my work, They are straight forward insurance, covers 90% of the claim, except for their exclusions and you can find it in your policy. The only thing I really don’t like is you have the pay out of pocket. Like what if you don’t have that amount of money on hand? And the deductible You pay on your first claim of the year not spread out. But anyway, I’m just glad I have pet insurance.

Trupanion has definitely saved our babies life. He is a hemophiliac English bulldog puppy, and has had SEVERAL hospital stays because of his condition. Without Trupanion I don't believe we could have afforded the little mans bills without taking out loans. We are just happy that the conversation of Keeping the little man alive due to money has never been an option for us. Thank you Trupanion.

Any time I've reached out to Nationwide, everyone is always so helpful, patient and thorough. I have two dogs with policies and have been a member for many years. (I was a member of VPI Pet Insurance before the acquisition by Nationwide). No complaints and will stay a member.
