My 4-year-old rescue is recovering from acute kidney failure. He spent a week in the hospital and has had at least a dozen follow-up visits, lots of tests, and ongoing medication. When your pet is sick or injured, it is stressful enough. You worry about them, getting vet appointment, getting to the vet, what and how extensive the medication or treatment will be...and what will it all cost... I like knowing that what I pay per month for ASPCA Pet Insurance is going to be somewhat the same. Any vet visits are not going to be catastrophically costly or out of budget. I can choose the correct path of care over the cost of treatment that fits my bank account. Covering the costs of getting my pal back into his groove is a big burden off my shoulders when all I really want to do is get him fixed up.

ManyPets is currently gouging its customers pretty terribly. In their latest renewal notice, they informed me that the insurance for my 5-year-old-boxer is increasing 136% in one year. Going from about $70 per month to over $160. This is particularly harmful because if I want to leave their company, some of my dog's health concerns will now be considered pre-existing conditions. This is a huge breach of trust that will have lasting impacts for my pet.
