Reasonable and low hassle
Rates are not too high and I benefit from the multi-pet discount. But, a bit frustrating that only "reasonable" veterinary charges are covered since "reasonable" and "New York City veterinarian" charges are contradictory terms... For example, if any major surgery were ever required I'd be lucky to get 25% reimbursed (given the $3,500 lifetime cap). But, for minor illnesses, 80% coverage for approximately 80% of the bill still helps. The premiums should pay for themselves and slightly more in the event of any significant treatment, though I would be thrilled to lose money on this deal forever rather than have to test out that assumption.

Compassionate Healthcare
After losing a cat to a long and expensive illness, when I adopted again I shopped for pet health insurance. Healthy Paws rated A+ from BBB,but what made my decsion was the reviews from pet owner like myself that raved about the compassion they recieved from the Customer Care service. I have experienced this myself and when your pet is so sick it is comforting to know that they truely care.I recieved e-mails and phone calls expressing their concern and sending hugs.I don't get that from my own insurance company. Do you?

Wellness Claim
Very fast and easy. I mailed the claim, received an email that they had my claim and received another email with my reimbursement info telling me the check was in the mail.

Quick and friendly service
Trupanion really does cover everything under the policy. Each time our dog has had a medical issue Trupanion quickly responded and we received the insurance checks within 2 weeks. Just recently our dog had a bout of Giardiasis and then 2 weeks later ingested a mystery pill, so our vet bills would have been astronomical if it weren't for Trupanion. The only down side would be that they do not cover exam fees under the policy. Other than that, it's great.

Pennies and cents reimbursables
they try everything not to pay up and adding insult to injury, they will reimburse you pennies and cents against your claim. they wont pay up for an annual check up. a clean bill of health was favourable to them, which means they can continue to take my money knowing fully well that i wont hit them with a big bill in the future, their profit, my loss!

I WISH THEY COVERED HUMANS!
I think this is the first review I have ever written in my life. Why? Because Healthy Paws is so extraordinary I want to tell as many people about it as possible.
We have a 9.5 month old Brussels Griffon, who is all love, but sadly contracted Giardia (a parasite) several months back. For those of you that don't know about Giardia, it is a tough parasite to get rid of--many compare it to children having lice.
I have been in and out of the vet treating Zola at least 6 times in the past few months. Each visit requires a fecal test and each time it comes back positive and we need to retreat with medicine.
Each time, Healthy Paws covered the fecal test at 90% and all her medicine. As a one off, this doesn't amount to much but when you are back in the vet every other week it has truly been a lifesaver.
When I submit a claim, I get an instant reimbursement notice and receive a check in the mail a few days later. I only wish my insurance was so efficient.
Just the other day, I received an email from Healthy Paws asking how Zola was doing (and this was not a generic email). It nearly brought me to tears, it has been such a struggle trying to get rid of this parasite and Healthy Paws has truly been caring, professional and most of all compassionate.
I have told several vets about Healthy Paws and encourage them to tell all their clients. They are just extraordinary.

True To Their Promise
Within the last couple of years our beloved dog began to encounter multiple medical problems. Our veterinarian referred us to specialists. It was all very expensive. Thanks to Trupanion our dog received the the best possible care and we didn't need to mortgage our house. We are very happy and pleased with Trupanion. They are very consumer oriented and honest.
I only wish our people health insurance was so good.
