Good but not incredible
I had my dog diagnosed with lymphoma. She had two operations to remove enlarged lymph nodes. I found a place that had very good rates, a lot cheaper than the ASPCA itself (Bergh Hospital). Insurance technically pays 80% of reasonable costs, which means that they will pay 80% of what is determined to be the appropriate cost within your location. They ended up paying approximately 65% of my cost -- meaning that my costs were higher than the "reasonable". However I know that I paid very competitive prices, the same if not lower than the average in my area.
The response time to claims is inconsistent, but overall a month after submitting the claim (if they didn't need the vet's records sent over). Sometimes it takes them too long to acknowledge they received the records (once, more than a month)
Continuous care is an add-on for chronic illness. This covers illnesses that exceed one term. It is good but not so good: It pays a maximum lifetime and after that you're on your own because after that it is a pre-existing condition. I guess this will be the case with all the insurances, but it does limit what you get after one chronic disease is diagnosed. In a way, a dog like mine with cancer is likely to have complications that will not be covered because cancer is the ultimate cause, and then insurance becomes irrelevant...
A question here says "would you recommend this company to other pet owners?" --- I think there may be better plans, certainly, but considering that

Highly recommended- follow their guidelines, fab!
They took the "uggh!" out of the pet care experience.
Pet's Best was easy to enroll in, definitely easy to submit claims, the processing is super-quick, especially if you sign up for direct deposit (really? yes! They have direct deposit into your newly pet-care emptied account! :-) ).
They have an odd thing about a 3 day waiting period for an accident (I understand the 2 week waiting period for an illness), but statistically, you're probably ok on this.
The customer service explained things clearly and calmly before I signed up (even while I was doing my comparative research), and when Monty-cat got hurt a year into coverage, they paid the claim. Am SO grateful I had pet health insurance! And am so grateful it was with Pet's Best (had another, not-to-named company before, which was pretty underhanded).
Thank you, Pets Best! The pricing is in the middle of the pack, but the service and honesty is the best, so it's unquestionably the best value I found. I highly recommend Pets Best coverage for your pet. I hope you needn't use it; but promise you that, if you do, Pet's Best will make it as easy as they can.

Good to Have
Overall we are glad we have insurance for our puppy. It is a tad expensive (and apparently rates went up for new customers), but without it we would have spent a lot more.

Excellent
I am very pleased with Trupanion and would recommend every pet owner to get this insurance. My dog tore her CCL and I got the best Vet to operate and repair her knee. I also took out the therapy insurance and was able to take her for hydro-therapy to speed up her recovery. If I didn't have Trupanion I would not have been able to afford such wonderful care for my dog.

Such a caring company AND they reimbursed me!
My boxer Kage has been nothing less than an athlete his whole life, tip top shape. He turned 11 this year and still was bouncing and full of life. I thought pet insurance would be a good idea in case something happens to him like the large kidney stone he got in October last year. I looked on THIS website for about an hour and came to the conclusion that Healthy Paws had WAY more satisfied customers than all the other insurances that I checked out. In April I got him covered for $60 a month. Everything went well but I noticed that he was walking weird and slower about the middle of June, didn't want to get up anymore in the morning, even when I called him. This got worse VERY quickly, to the point where he was sliding all over the floor and randomly falling over. I took him to the vet and ran many extensive tests and turned out he had a brain tumor. Within days he got so bad to the point where I had to put him down, the tumor was inoperable. This was the most difficult thing I ever had to experience.
A few days later I contacted Healthy Paws. They were very sympathetic for my loss. Being this was his first claim they needed all of his previous records, I said he had about 6 vets in the past, Healthy Paws offered to contact all of them and handle the paperwork for me to help me out in this sad time. Next they sent me such a nice card filled with everyone's written sympathies from their office... this was so sweet and unexpected, it was so above and beyond what I expected.
