worth the wait

In December our 8 year old male Papillon Buttons became extremely ill and was diagnosed with Addisons disease. Although it took some time for our claim and vet records to be reviewed, ultimately we were satisfied completely by Trupanion. Our expenses that we paid upfront were 90% reimbursed. Since our dog's condition is treatable but not curable he will require medication for the rest of his life and we are grateful to have Trupanion and their excellent service to help with that expense.

Peace of mind

We love our English Bulldog, but after he had surgery for a luxating patella, I realized that we weren't going to the dog park, petsmart or on car rides as much. His recovery has gone great, but I was worried about the financial implication of another injury. I got healthy paws in order to give myself and him our freedom and carefree attitudes back. Since then, he tore is CCL and had to have a TTA procedure to repair the leg. Healthy Paws was great throughout the whole experience. Whether it was providing the a list of pre-existing conditions (because of course a 4 year English has a vet chart more heavy than most mortgage documents) to the reps walking me through the vet diagnosis and our coverage, to faster processing time than my vet, I can't be happier with Healthy Paws. The hardest part of this has been convincing our dog that he has 4 more weeks of R&R before he can rejoin the rest of the neighborhood.

Fantastic! Thank you Healthy Paws!

They were so supportive, quick turnaround with the claim, and they covered most of our pups procedure. They were so nice troughout the process...even asking how Leigha was doing.

Embrace is definitely the best insurance out there

I researched pet insurance after my dachshund passed away from a lengthy illness - for which I did not have insurance for. Every month her medical care varied from 800-2300. I was fortunate enough to have a job which enabled me to pay her bills. That said, when I adopted my next dog, the first thing I did was sit down and dedicate some serious time to research all of the Pet Insurance companies. I had it narrowed down to two - Embrace + Trupanion, but after doing detailed research (phone calls etc) I decided Embrace was far superior as far as coverage, price, varied plans and overall professsionalism + friendliness. The peace of mind knowing no matter where I am with my dog, that we are covered and the idea of knowing I can walk into an ER to have her examined and not sweat the bill is a huge relief. The reiumbursment time for claims has never been longer than two weeks, tops. I've now been with them for almost 4 years and have recommended them to anyone and everyone I come into contact with. My dog just had surgery to remove lumps on her head - and the process for filling out the forms is painless (By the way, most vets will do it for you - just email them the claim form and they will fill out the claim and fax/email to Embrace. Easy breezy. And as far as the number one question is pet insurance worth it? See my first paragraph.

An insurance company that lives up to it's promise

As luck (bad luck!) would have it, in March of 2013 Madison was diagnosed with lymphoma. To make a long story somewhat shorter, by the time she died December 5, the medical bills exceeded $22,000. And of this amount, our insurance company paid all but about $2500. But it was not the fact that--how unbelievable!–here was an insurance company that actually paid; it was the spirit in which it paid. We would send in a claim form on, say, a Monday; we would receive our check for the 80% (less the office visit) by Thursday, and then it would be three weeks before the charge even hit our credit card. The payments came with personalized notes from the company telling us how glad they were to be able to help us affordably sustain Madison’s life. (By the way, that eight months of treatment gave Madison, up until the very last day, quality time; she was a happy dog and her brother Bill continued to play with her and enjoy her company). To top it all off, in the middle of Madison’s chemotherapy, I discovered online a new experimental hormone therapy that was very expensive but held out the prospect of, perhaps, many, many more months, or even years, of quality life. I contacted the company and asked if they would pay for it. They said, in effect, “let us think about it.” Two days later I got an email that advised me that the treatment had been approved. Those experimental treatments cost about $4500; we paid $900 of the cost. And while I will never know how much more time those treatment

ACL surgery

My little girl had a tear in her left hind acl. Trupanion quickly accepted the claim. I was reimbursed all but my 10% copay within a week after her surgery. In all they covered $3300. Thank you Trupanion.

good experience

The only negative thing that i can say is that I didn't realize that they don't pay exam fees, even if it's for a sick visit. That being said, I was very happy with the service and plan coverage from Trupanion. I am just thankful that I didn't have a plan with a deductible otherwise I would not have gotten back that much. Trupanion does seem to be a service minded company and any time I have called with questions they have been very helpful. They were great at staying in touch with us via email to let us know that our claim was being processed and even did direct deposit of the claim money to our checking account. Getting 90% back is a relief.
