I learned my lesson the hard way by not having excellent insurance for my beloved Maltese Logan. He needed a Knee replacement and soon after was diagnosis with severe CHF. The medicine was approx. $500 a month and the grand total I needed to borrow from my 401K was $30,000. I am still paying off this loan for 3 more yrs and my beautiful Maltese has been gone 16 months now. I made the mistake of purchasing a "cheap" policy, and you truly get what you pay for!! My family has since welcomed a beautiful Golden Retriever into our lives. I did my homework on breeders and Insurance companies. I needed to know that money would never be the reason I would not be able to give our family pet the best medical care he deserved. The only company I would consider was Trupanion. They must go out of there way to hirer the most compassionate dog loving staff! I choose a policy that would reimburse 90%%of the billed amount with no deductible, and insured my dog at exactly 8wks of age. Everyone thought I was crazy to "waste" money on a healthy pup, but I felt such an urgency to have this dog covered. I could never afford to do what i did out of pocket for my last dog, however we all know once you fall madly in love with your pet there isn't much you wouldn't do for them. To make a very long story short, my beautiful Golden named Chase, was neutered at 8 wks old, We decided to have hip x-rays for a baseline. As my luck would have it, Chase had severe hip dysplasia, 90% Right hip and 70% Left hip.

awesome.....quick turnaround on payment......delivered as promised! 3 year old Golden Retriever...Tucker, ate about 25% of a bath towel. We had rolled up a towel to keep the draft from the front door and unbeknownst to us he chewed it causing severe vomiting and resulting in abdominal surgery! 2300.00 bill and our policy covered 80% and paid us in two weeks! I can't say more of this company !!! I had JUST APPLIED for insurance for my two dogs and this company was the easiest and really most affordable. I was thrilled. Just 2 weeks later my wonderful dog Virgil was shot by one of our neighbors (nope we don't live in the wild west!!) We live in the Hamptons (WHAT ???) Anyway when we brought Virgil in he was in critical condition and no doubt we were gonna' have a HUGE bill-if he even lived. After 5 days in critical he was ready to come home. He was almost a miracle-they had to remove 2 lungs and then sew him back up. I then sent the bill to Trupanion thinking that they would turn us down-It should be covered but you know how the USUAL insurances work-find a small loophole… I was sooo thankful when the check arrived. Now we had some reward money to try to find out who shot Virgil ! They worked so quickly I was astonished. Now they sent an E-mail to see how Virgil was. I can't say enough good things about Trupanion. Choose this one.

Easy online sign up and coverage selection. We've had our two dogs covered for about one year when our female tore her ACL. After receiving all of her surgery information, Healthy Paws kept me posted on her claim process, and came through with the claim payment on time and as promised. Follow up emails checking on her recovery were personal and pleasant. I have recommended Healthy Paws to many of my friends already.

Our rescue dog developed weakness in her hind end and began turning her knuckles over when walking. An MRI revealed she had lumbosacral disease. Her symptoms were caused by compressed nerve roots in her spine causing a tremendous amount of pain. Embrace was quick to approve the precertification for an MRI. Surgery was required to relieve the compression. Embrace sent us their portion of the reimbursement very quickly. If we did not have Embrace we could not have provided the care our dog so desperately needed to relieve her pain. I also can't say enough about the customer service. The Embrace staff is always very friendly and ready to help.

My vet's office uses express claims and I did not have to lay out all that money and wait for a refund. I only paid my portion. This time around my cat was vomiting quite a bit and tests were taken. Her bill came to about $286.00 and with express claims I only had to lay out $78.00. I've had VPI in the past for several dogs and did not get much money back, but did pay more for the monthly premium as well. I'm thrilled with Trupanion so far and hope they continue to take care of us the way they are now.

Purchasing pet insurance is very confusing. I am so happy to have chosen Healthy Paws as the insurance carrier for my puppy Gizmo. I have had to submit a few claims, each handled quickly and efficiently. The latest claim was for Gizmo to have surgery for "Cherry Eye". I usually e-mail my claim and a copy of the vet bill. Gizmo had the surgery on 1/29/14 and I received an e-mail advising completion of the claim on 1/30/14. I received my reimbursement check on 2/4/14. Not only did my claim get processed in such a speedy way but I even received an e-mail checking on how Gizmo was feeling. It makes you feel that they really care. Also, by the way, Gizmo even received a card for his birthday. I can't say enough good things about Healthy Paws.
