Our pup had an issue that was causing him pain and limiting his ability to play and enjoy his doggy life. It killed us to see it. After a trip to the vet, they had determined the issue and had a plan to surgically correct it. Fortunately, we had signed up for Healthy Paws insurance way before this and it made concerns with the financial part of surgery much less concerning (although, as most pet owners can attest to, we'd have foot the bill at whatever cost to us). Post surgery, the dog's spirit was immediately lifted, despite the little cone that made him look more like a desk-lamp than a dog. While this wasn't an experience we wished to live through, we made the right choice in partnering with Healthy Paws for it! Lightening quick service, review of documents, and reimbursement were what we got--the speed with which this took place was spectacular. After emailing the documents, I received a confirmation response within 10 minutes. 5 minutes after the confirmation email, we had our reimbursement statement. A check was in our mailbox 4 days later. A week post-surgery we received a sincere follow up to check in how the pup was doing. This wasn't a sales message. This wasn't advertising or marketing. It was genuine concern from a company who cares about their service and the families they help. I only wish my own health insurance was this solid! I've already recommended Healthy Paws to my parents and friends who own pets.

I contacted you, printed out the claim form, collected all the documents you requested and mailed them all in the same envelope. There were a total of 4 bills which were clearly itemized on the claim. Whoever opened the mail, just selected ONE of the bills and discarded or ignored the rest. Then I was told that they were not sent! I had to take the time to pull out all the bills again and resubmit via fax. I requested to speak with a supervisor and requested some feedback after an investigation as to how this happened. I have heard NOTHING back from the supervisor who was not exactly professional in her demeanor. I am not surprised at this point. I am very sorry I spent my money with this company on this insurance - the whole experience has been quite annoying.

Trupanion is Excellent. They keep in touch which a lot of companies do not do. I think they have the best plan available of the many I checked out.Looked at questions below - do you want to know last time I sent in claim and what it is for. That is the info I am giving. Have sent in about 8 claims. Dog is 18 months old.

ASPCA DID EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO MAKE THEIR POLICY UNCLEAR WHILE SIGNING ME UP AND THEN PAID NOTHING FOR ANY OF MY PET'S ILLNESSES. I also love the mission of the ASPCA but DO NOT BUY THEY'RE INSURANCE! I purchased the insurance for my pet 6 years ago and thought she would be well covered. She was not. First, for every single vet item I sent in, ASPCA did pay 90% but the key was that they paid 90% on what they considered to be normal prices. Therefore, if I paid 150.00 for shots, they claimed that the normal and customary charge should have been 50 and then paid 90% of 50...not 150. This occurred on every single line item. So, although they claim on their web page that they do not have listed claim prices...they do. Then, my pup was diagnosed with cancer on Oct. 24th. She began treatment right away but as of Nov. 1st that same year - SHE WAS NO LONGER COVERED as my policy renewed. Apparently, no matter how long you have this insurance, your pet is only covered one year at a time. If they get sick even one day before the beginning of the next year (it's different for each policy), they are not covered after the renewal. When I asked about this, the representative stated, "It's just like homeowner's insurance. It starts over every year." Also, when your policy renews, there is an 180 pre-existing period for all sickness that starts all over again. My nine year old golden tore her ACL and meniscus. I had two claims to be processed. The first one was done within 6 days. The second claim within 14 days. The whole ordeal was close to $4,000. There were no questions asked only complete support from start to finish. I received phone calls and emails checking on my dog's progress. My own insurance company for my medical claims is not this caring. It is a pleasure dealing with everyone you talk to and they cannot do enough to make you happy. My dog is about to start water therapy. To have that as an option to the recovery shows Healthy Paws has taken the step into Alternative Therapy which shows they are progressive and interested in what is best for our pets. I have recommended them to friends and family members!

Embrace has accepted my first claim and applied it to my $500.00 deductible, and I am pleased about that. I don't have much experience yet with Embrace (as far as my pet getting sick), but I feel more secure about keeping my pet and not afraid of financial problems like I was before.

4 month old Chihuahua puppy got bacterial pnuemonia. Vet and emergency charges over 2300.00 and TruPanion filed claim quickly paying 1037.00. I received several checks at one time but my bank stated they reject Trupanion checks. They told me they put a 7 day hold on mine only because I'm a long time good customer. Has anyone else had this problem?
