Amazing!
I rarely go online to rate companies, but I feel compelled to write one up for Trupanion as they have been nothing short of amazing!! Not too long after I picked up Minka from the breeder, she ingested a rather large seed from a coconut palm in my parents' backyard. The next morning when I woke up to take Minka on her morning walk, she seemed constipated and vomited and it looked as if her stomach was slightly distended. I immediately brought her to the vet who had to surgically remove the seed that had distended her stomach to three times it's size! The bill was huge (around $3k) and I wasn't sure that my Trupanion pet insurance had "kicked in" just yet. Fortunately, even though the insurance hadn't become active just yet, Trupanion paid for the surgery and I think I paid around $750, as I mentioned Trupanion didn't have to do that and I consider Trupanion an amazing company and highly recommend it to any pet owner!!

Horrible
They denied claims without reviewing them.I did have a pre exsisting allergy exclusion, but they used that to deny eye infections, anything.
Also the Ortho exam is another way they exclude items when My puppy was less than a year.

Great at communicating with customers
Fortunately, I have not had to submit a claim for Tasha this past year. Pet's Best Insurance is very good to work with on an administrative level. You are given 30 to 45 days' notice before your policy expires along with your renewal rate which gives you ample time to decide. I checked out so many other insurance companies and Pet's Best, by far, offered the best coverage at a reasonable rate.

Incredibly Impressed
My husband and I adopted a beautiful little poodle/? mix shelter dog last January. He was a year old. We decided to buy pet insurance because we have friends who expended huge sums of money for medical treatments for their uninsured dog. We hoped we would never need the insurance. In October we discovered that his liver was failing. The cause is unknown, but our vet suspects that he ingested something toxic. After multiple visits to our vet and an emergency pet hospital, our little dog died. We are devastated. The bills came to over $3000. Healthy Paws immediately reimbursed us almost $2200. What impressed us the most however, is the fact that ten people on the Healthy Paws staff wrote personal notes on a sympathy card. I could not have imagined better or more sympathetic help.

Payment was too low
While the service and turn around time for my claim was excellent I did not understand while a good chunk of the claim was not paid. I understand about the deductible but not the reduction of the submitted amounts. This is making me think twice if this insurance policy is really worth it.

Terrific Insurance Company
All of us in our family who own dogs have Healthy Pet Insurance. We started with VPI, but soon realized that was not the company for us. Our dog, a 7 year old female Cavalier, has many health issues, including diabetes. Healthy Paws has been wonderful in paying our claims for 90% of the cost of vetsulin, needles, and her many meds. We have been very happy with our decision to use Healthy Paws Insurance.

happy with process
we have had several claims with trupanion and have been satisfied with the response they have provided. we have more than one dog so it is expensive on a monthly basis but, i would recommend if you have it in your budget.
