We have a puppy that has addisons disease, and trupanion has been so wonderful through our trying times, they have always paid our claims within one week, and they send me emails to keep me abreast of the status of each claim submitted. My dog started getting sick in September. He was diagnosed with diabetes in October. October was the beginning of a new plan period. Because he started becoming sick in September but didn't get treatment until October, ASPCA would not cover any of his expenses. They said since he showed symptoms of his disease during a different plan period, he was not eligible to receive any reimbursement. This doesn't make sense and is very unfair.

Let me start off by saying I have tried multiple pet insurance companies in the past and Healthy Paws is the best so far. Before I even signed my dog up I spoke with a representative at Healthy Paws to discuss what's covered and whats not, I was surprised that they pretty much cover everything except the actual Dr. visit charge or their annual shots which was ok with me. They also have no limit of coverage per incident per year which is very hard to come by, usually it's $5K or $10K per year at other pet insurance companies. This was my second claim which is faster then your first claim because on your first claim they ask for your pets medical records and they review them and then process your claim but even that took only about 8 or 9 days. I had taken my dog to the vet for an emergency visit which was about $1K and they did follow up testing which involved ultrasounds and scoping which was about another $4K it didn't take but about 3-5 days for them to process the claim and mail out a check which covered about $4,300 of the $5,000 it cost me up front. After the claim was finished they even send out a warm email asking how he was feeling and to give him a hug from them. There customer service is excellent and they are a 5 star pet insurance in my book. I have not had the best of luck with my dogs in the past and I have spent a fortune on them because of other insurance companies always trying to give you the run around not like Healthy Paws.

Our 16 month old lab was diagnosed with Leptospirosis, a disease which attacks the kidneys. She was hospitalized for a week and a half and had treatments which included dialysis. Had we not had Healthy Paws insurance, we would have been faced with losing our Lily due to the expense for treatment. She's home now and is on the road to recovery. Before purchasing Healthy Paws, I researched all pet insurance companies and determined that they were the best. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. There were no surprises : they covered everything they said they would and the claims were processed in a very timely manner. We can't thank them enough for their honesty and support. I'm telling every pet owner I know about how wonderful Healthy Paws is !

KC has had a few illness but nothing real serious. The reason for the insurance is for something major

My 1 year old boxer, Roxy, woke up one morning vomiting multiple times within a short time. We took her into the vet, an x-ray was done which revealed that she had swallowed a metal foreign object. The vet tried to remove it with a scope, however he was unsuccessful and Roxy had to have major surgery to remove it. She is recovering nicely, however the bill was almost $2K. We printed off the Healthy Paws claim form, and took it to our vet the day Roxy came home. They completed it and faxed it in. I received an e-mail from Healthy Paws the same day saying they needed more information to process the claim, my vet sent the information that day and I received another e-mail that day from them saying the claim was being processed and they would do their best to complete it within 10 business days. They kept their promise and I received a check in the mail about 2 weeks after the surgery. Our deductible was $200 and they paid 90% of the remaining balance less the exam fee just as they promised. They also have contacted us to see how Roxy is recovering. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing pet insurance. This definitely has made this experience less stressful for us. Roxy is doing well, and we only have a small portion of a large bill to pay ourselves.

Rating 10!!!!!! We have equal family members who are furry and walk on all fours, I believe a necessary & responsible component of pet enjoyment is having a solid pet insurance policy. Also helps me sleep a little easier. Rocky had knee surgery repair, twice, Trupanion claims are easy and reliable. He is advancing in age (aren't we all???) I wouldn't be able to make a choice on future treatments just based on cost, that would break my heart. Trupanion claims service demonstrated to me they truly CARE , which is sorely missing in healthcare these days. I recommend Trupanion, you will not be dissapointed!
