Gone downhill fast
I've been a Healthy Paws customer for years. It used to be great, but the company got brought out by AON earlier this year. STEER CLEAR. Ever since the buyout my calls are getting re-routed to Indian call centers. The representatives on the other end of the line are not authorized to do anything and you waste 30 min on the phone with them trying to explain the situation. RUN, don't walk from this insurer. Sadly it's another typical story of a great business going down the toilet after getting brought out by a mass conglomerate. #1 Pet insurance out there!
If you are looking for total coverage for your pet, then I would recommend Nationwide Pet insurance in a heart-beat. I was a long-time customer of VPI, which was acquired by Nationwide. Although a little pricey, it is well worth it as the "Whole Pet With Wellness Plan" is phenomenal. Using the "Vitusvet" phone application, you can electronically submit claims and get reimbursed within 48 to 72 hours. Their customer service is excellent.

Excellent Service!
Truly can’t imagine going through another pet insurance agency. I love the support we get through Nationwide! The team is incredibly quick and you can tell they genuinely care about my little puppy :) Atlas loves you all! Thanks for the excellent customer service!

Consistency in claims processing
All of my initial claims were processed within a week of me submitting the information which made for a great experience. My recent and largest claim hit a road block that has slowed processing significantly. Had I known that medical records and notes needed to be sent with the claims, I would been doing so after every visit. As it seems the reading of medical records takes a few weeks before decision is made on my claim. My expectations of “ease of claims” has changed.

Great service hindered by an updated claim system
So far im extremely happy to have the insurance, its been so great to have for our senior cat so we can keep her in good health and check ups without having to worry about the medical costs. The largest issue is the out date claim system requiring photos/faxes/scans of the documents vs just an online form. Its extremely inefficient to have to print out papers, fill out by hand, take photos, email them and wait and hope they were submitted correctly where I than assume a claim agent has to manual fill out the information and read peoples hand writing.

Fast, Friendly, and Dependable!
