Rate hike over 20%
In Trupanion policy guide they state "This annual adjustment will never exceed 20% in any given year." We had increase from $30.34 to $49.91! I called and inquired and they said, oh thats our policy for everywhere but New York. There is nothing in their policy guide that states there is an exception for New York. We have a young healthy cat, we have never filed a claim. This rate hike is outrageous. How can you trust a company to be there when your pet is in need, when they don't follow their own rules.

Great people and great care!
I have a 14 yr. cat. His age has some influence on his health and that requires me to stay on top of his medical condition all times everyday. I had a lot of support form the Trupanion team from the minute I signed with them. They are quick to respond, understanding and are willing to listen. It is great to have that kind of understanding and communication with an insurance company and most of all when it has to do with your furry loved ones.

So Glad I Joined
Henry is my second pet. My first dog, Snowball, came to us around the age of three and I didn't even though pet insurance existed. She was a good dog and she lived a long life, but during her last five years she was very, very sick and had to see several different kind of specialist cardiologist and opthamologists. So, when Henry came along, I signed up with Truepanion. From the first, every representative I have ever spoken to has not only been knowledgeable, very pleasant to deal with. Someone walk me through all the different possibilities available when signing up and choosing a plan. They were patient and answered questions repeatedly. What is really nice is during this process I was able to deal with the same representative rather than each time speak to someone new and explain all over again. Automatic bank deductions make payments easy and stress-free, online filing and great customer service make this a company one I am very happy to deal with. I recently filed a series of claims dating back almost one year which, due to problems at the vets office, were never properly filed with Truepanion. Once again, a friendly and knowledgeable representative (or two) was able to help me figure out what I needed to send in and basically clean up a huge paperwork mess. my claims were paid in a very timely manner – again, direct deposit into my bank account, stress free and easy! This is a fantastic plan and I am so grateful I have it. I highly recommend it and cannot say enough good things about the representatives, the various options available to pet owners and the comprehensive service and quality I have received since the day I signed up.

VPI not so good!
Had some trouble with VPI from the beginning of signing up with them 2 years back. They denied my first claim on the grounds that it was "too soon," it was made about 2 months after my insurance began and was not for anything very big or serious, just a short-term ear infection. VPI claimed, initially, that they had not got my dog's veterinary records. This was not true, he was a rescue dog from Bideawee, Manhattan, NYC. and all of the information that the well reputed, animal hospital there had been made available to VPI. Bideawee vets had watched him for health problems for several weeks before being deeming him ready for adoption. There were no pre-existing health problems. In the subsequent 2 years VPI has always been very slow and seemingly very grudging about reimbursements. Now this small, Chihuahua-mix, rescue dog will turn 4 years old this September, 2015, but VPI has already seen fit to start charging me the addition $5.00 a month fee since June. This additional fee is for a dog that's 4 years old. A phone call by me to VPI re this produced nothing but a rather arrogant, negative response. Lastly, VPI has an on-line magazine for it's customers that I'm unable to download on my Mac computer, (I'm not sure why this is,) but again a call to VPI about it was met with a "not our problem" attitude! My request for a possible hard-copy edition was flatly turned down.

Incapable of responding to emails
We signed up on line & received a declarations page. Our trial month was almost up but we still got notifications to sign up. When we called to find out why, they said we weren't signed up but couldn't understand why the credit card info was in the system. We were asked if we wanted to sign up & the price was now higher than that stated on our declarations page. We were told that price was only good for 24hrs but this is nowhere in writing & our vet said that's not true. After 2 months of waiting for a written response, I cancelled. If a company can't respond to emails, they've got a problem.

Molly ourboxer
When we got our little boxer puppy, Molly we immediately found that this variety of dog, is prone to health issues. So we searched the web, and found Embrace to be highly regarded company and have been with them ever since. The claims that we have been made have been paid promptly, and we are alway provide with claim status. we will tell you that with out Embrace support, it would have been most difficult to provide the care that we have for Molly!
