Very friendly customer service

It took a little while for the claim to be processed, but ultimately I received the exact reimbursement I was expecting with no hassle whatsoever.

Turn-around time on reimbursement has always been fast and accurate. If I have questions Trupanion associates have always been helpful, polite and they know their stuff.

Once I understood the deductible for each condition (I hadn’t realized the deductible was for each condition) it was very easy.

Don’t choose this company, they will do everything they can and possible to deny your claim!!! Our 2 yr old cat got cancer and after much email and calling back and forth to figure out why the claim was taking so long they just wanted confirmation that we didn’t have our cat during a certain time period and he didn’t go to the vet during that time not that It affect our pet insurance. Then they now are saying a scar from a scratch he had gotten when he was 7 months old is a preexisting conditioning for cancer (lymphoma at that)

Although we disagreed with the decision we felt that the appeal decision was fair and that we received a prompt response. My confidence in the program has not changed.

I got pet insurance for my 2 black labs when I adopted them 7 years ago at age 3 and 4 after going through cancer treatment and surgery for my previous dog that was outrageously expensive. For 6 years I didn't really use it, but in the last year, they have both had medical issues and currently one of them is undergoing surgery and cancer treatment. The claims process is really easy. Claims are reviewed and approved in a timely basis. Their customer service people are friendly and responsive whether in an online chat or on the phone. They are very clear about what they will or will not cover. My only regret is that they don't cover preventive things like vaccines, heartworm and flea/tick preventive medications. But otherwise, I have been very happy and won't get another dog without having insurance.
