A month or so after my then 5-yr-old Frenchie, Schalkie [skáll-key], came into my life in 2012, we moved to New York City (from SF Bay Area). Once settled in, I found a highly recommended vet here in the Upper West Side and asked if they could recommend a reputable pet insurer. They gave me a few names, but said they had "heard good things" about Healthy Paws.I immediately contacted Healthy Paws [HP] and set up a contract. BEST MOVE EVER!! For the monthly cost of what I pay for a few meals here, we have been covered beyond my expectations. A couple of years ago, his corneas were scratched during play while boarding. This required expensive specialist treatment at the Vet Hospital here (BluePearl) and within a week of my claim, a large check was sent to me from HP. More recently, after an expensive MRI and determination of spinal issues which required significant, really expensive spinal surgery, HP came through again. I had actually not expected them to cover a problem that was actually a breed issue. Both the MRI and the surgery were covered and, again, beyond my expectations! We're talking $$thousands (!) covered. The coverage is essentially Medicare-level for pets and even more SIMPLE! To top it all off, they even contacted me asking after Schalk's recovery and such. Yeah, I recommend Healthy Paws at every opportunity.

Our dog needed emergency bladder surgery to remove a stone. Healthy Paws covered 90% of all costs less the one time examination fee and a $500. deductible. It was exactly what we were hoping for. They completed the claim within 24 hours! We got the check in 4 days. This would have cost us over $6000. Thanks so much healthy paws. Great customer service!

My cat Zippy was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The choices were to give him pills for the rest of his life or radio iodine therapy that was very costly. If I didn't have insurance for the therapy his life would have been cut much shorter. The claim process was easy and handled in a timely manner. I know there are a lot of pet insurance companies out there and I could probably shop for a "better deal" but so far ASPCA pet insurance has been very good to me and my Zippy.

Embrace is the 3rd pet insurance plan I have tried. I work in the pet industry and talk to a lot of pet owners and I now recommend Embrace to everyone. After frustration with past insurance plans I stumbled on Embrace. They are fantastic! With 2 large breed dogs (aged 8 & 9), Embrace covers exactly what they say they will! No arguments, no having to prove the cost for my area, no getting a second estimate from another local vet (all things I've had to do in the past with other companies). We've had Trupanion for years, and unfortunately have had to use it as it turns out that both of our beloved pups have chronic health issues. Trupanion has come through on every word of what they say, always easily covering a claim, (even large ones) with no hesitation and easy 1 step form. This coverage allows us to provide our dogs with the best care available and help them to be as healthy and as comfortable as they can be for as long as we have them. I don't like to think about what decisions we would have been forced to make without Trupanions coverage. I would never again own a pet without the piece of mind Trupanion has provided us with. I can honestly say both literally and figuratively that they are a lifesaver a couple of times over.
