Unsure of ASCPA Insurance at this time
At this time, I am not sure I am happy with ASCPA pet insurance. I currently have to two pets covered under ASCPA pet insurance - I chose a Level 2 plan for each of them. Between the two pets I recently submitted five claims totaling $853.55 to ASCPA. Out of the $853, I will be reimbursed $258 - approximately 30% of the total. One claim of $470 was for my 8 month old kitten who was spayed. For that particular claim, I will be reimbursed only $100 out of the total $470 claim for the spaying. I thought ASCPA [especially being ASCPA] offered a better care plan for my pets - especially thinking that I had a level 2 plan - my mistake. I am not convinced that ASCPA is a good pet insurance plan to choose. I have yet to see anything close to 90% reimbursement. BE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THEIR THEORIES ON PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS AND THEIR 180 day CLAIM WITH 'CURED' BEING THE SKEWED AND KEY WORD here. 30% reimbursement just does not seem adequate to me and it seems they are good at denying portions of your claim leading to them paying much less than the up to 90% as advertised. I thought this was a good and safe choice being ASCPA, but that is very questionaable. I have submitted one more claim. I will look at the percentage that I get back. If it is a low percentage again, I may have to reconsider this pet insurance plan. I also suspect that they may have lied to me. I previously submitted a claim that was denied based on a pre-exisiting condition. I thought my pet would be covered because he had not any symptomotology of allergies for 18 months, but again their interpretation of the contract and the word "cured" did not match what I understand or what I was told on the intial call regarding this insurance. Needless to say, they would not cover the claim and that was that.

The Best Pet Insurance by far!
We switched from VPI to Healthy Paws after discovering they had a schedule of coverage that wasn't nearly sufficient for the real costs of illness. Since then, our standard poodle has been very ill with liver disease. We were able to make all health decisions without considering costs. Healthy Paws had completed every single claim in a timely fashion - covering 90% of all costs including costly prescription medications. I have recommended several friends and would rate them #1 by far!

Great Customer Service!
My boxer got into something and swelled up quickly. We had to bring her to a vet other than our normal vet because of the late hour. Embrace was wonderful about covering her visit regardless of where we brought her. The claim was processed quickly and the check was sent immediately. Wonderful customer service when you call!

Great coverage
My dog, Buddy, was vomiting for several days and it turned into aspiration pneumonia from the vomiting. He required multiple vet visits, x-rays, medication and even a hospital stay. Embrace turned the claims around quickly and covered all of the claims. A representative even reached out to me to see how Buddy was doing. A very nice, caring touch.

Terrific service and always pleasant to talk to
We have two dogs now that have been on the plans for over 3 years now. I would say almost once a year we have some reason that we need to go to the vet other than a normal care visit. My dogs are a bit rambunctious and like to get into things. Every time we go it is great knowing that whatever it is, we just take care of it, without worrying about the cost( within reason) just like having insurance for us, I feel like it makes the decision about going to the vet easier and makes me and my dogs happier!

Impeccable
My one year old lab mix had to have surgery for a luxated patella, which cost a couple thousand dollars. Healthy Paws processed my claim in an afternoon and I received the reimbursement check a few days later! When my vet initially treated her for it he said surgery would be the best option but he cautioned me about the cost. I was totally confident that Healthy Paws would cover it because thaey had been so good with all my other much smaller claims. It alleviated the stress for me when I knew I could do what was best for my dog because I had Healthy Paws insurance. They even followed up with an email to see how she is recovering. I am really impressed with this company. Much better than human insurance!

Great, no-hassle insurance
I have had Healthy Paws since 2013 and this is the first time I had to make a claim through them. My dog blew out her ACL and we decided with the vet to have surgery. There were three invoices, one for pre-op, one for the surgery, and one for a night of observation. Since I had never supplied medical records before I thought it might take a month or two before the invoices were covered. But I was wrong. They were paid within two weeks. I even receive a personal email asking how my dog was feeling. That's not just good customer service, it's a real human touch.
