Garbage/Scam/Cons
We insured our dog at five months old. We had her spayed right before we got insurance. The vet gave her too much anesthesia, and this caused a back leg paralysis. We found out the dosage is different with Tibetan Mastiffs. It cleared up in a day and she walked fine. I purchased the insurance after that. Fast forward two years. We took her to the vet to make sure she doesn’t have hip dysplasia. We did this because we found out the breeder she came from didn’t have breeding rights. We also had no info on her hips. We just wanted to take precautionary measures to make sure she wouldn’t have any problems. The vet took X-rays and concluded she didn’t have hip dysplasia. We filed our claim with Healthy Paws to be reimbursed 90% of our vet visit. They came back and said since she had a “pre-existing limp” from the prior paralysis, and she couldn’t be covered whatsoever. This was the first claim we ever filed. We had extensive documentation showing she didn’t have hip dysplasia. They basically said F-off. We cancelled our policy, and they took us for two years of monthly payments. Stay away from them.

First Pet Insurance Claim
I typically don’t do these because they are time consuming, however, I think it’s important that people know about a product or service before they purchase it. I had never had pet insurance before. When I got my dog Angel, a little over a year ago, her vet suggested it after her first visit. He is also a good friend, so I trusted him. He sent me home with a few pamphlets and I ultimately chose ASPCA. I knew the name and trusted that if I ever needed it, they’d pay. About 3 weeks ago I had to take my sweet girl to the ER, then to a specialist for surgery. Between the ER, her surgery and 4 nights in the hospital, I was out over $10k. Once I had received the invoices, I went on the ASPCA website and put in my claims. The process was SUPER easy. It said it would take 2-4 weeks to process. It took less than 2 weeks AND I got the checks shortly thereafter. I could not be more of an advocate for pet insurance now and especially ASPCA. P.S. Angel is doing great!

HORRIBLE!!!!!!
I'll just sum up my review to your staff in no way being trained properly. I had an existing policy with you, was looking to up my policy to get my dog complete coverage, called and made all the changes, asked my old policy to not cancel until my new policy was in effect. I was "PROMISED" because I already had an existing policy and was only making changes, that my entire new policy would be in effect the day after I made the change. I had to ask the rep a good 10 times if this was true as I already had an appt scheduled for my dog for a check-up and WOULD NOT HAVE CHANGED MY POLICY IF THIS WAS NOT TRUE, your rep again assured me up and down that I would be fine, and my dog would be fully covered the next day. Took her for her appt days later, vet found a lump- turns out its cancer, found out after the appt that her coverage actually would not start for 2 weeks so my dog had absolutely no insurance for that appt, not even the original policy I had, and to top it all off, now because we thought we were covered and went to the vet, the cancer my dog was just diagnosed with is now a pre-existing condition.

Terrible claim service
I paid my monthly fee electronically through bank withdrawal. I submitted my first claim electronically, a photo accompanied by the proper docs. A while later a response came - they my photo was to blurry. Wasn't blurry on my end. Then they needed a paid receipt. The second paper showed the bill was zero balance. Then they wanted a bank receipt. I threatened with my lawyer, fraud and BBB, cancel my Pet insurance and return my premiums as this was timely and now months of frustration. They cancel and tell me to submit. I sent them the paperwork through snail mail. They declined one item. I understood but the entire claim. Again I contested. another letter and I am still waiting. this has been going on for months and absoring hours of my time. I do not recommed this Pet insurance company. Others are more reliable.
