What a Relief!
I have had Trupanion for a few years on a rescue dog that I adopted. Not long ago, my dog bloated and torsioned (GDV). When the vet asked me if he could do x-rays and then surgery, I told him my dog had insurance and do whatever he needed to do. It was a huge relief to be able to put money issues aside and get my dog the emergency care he needed. This was my first claim for my dog, so it took awhile to get the vet paperwork in, and then the vet had to amend a note, but once this was done, payment was almost immediate.

Skin tag is pre existing condition for CANCER
My boxer had a small skin tag removed from his face during a dental cleaning and months later he was diagnosed with a large cancer mass in his chest Embrace will not pay any of our claims because they consider the skin tag as a preexisting mass. I even had our vet write them a letter stating that the skin tag was nothing more then a skin tag and they still denied. I would not ever recommend you put your money into pet insurance. Take your $45 a month and put it into a savings account for your pet.

My dog had a skin tag prior to getting the insurance so when he was diagnosed with a large cancer mass they said it was pre existing condition! Never buy this insurance they have an excuse for every condition your dog may have.

Thank goodness we have EMBRACE
I have written previous great reviews and, once again, EMBRACE has come though! With 5 dogs now, we got a $1,000 deductible for each in order to have a "doable" monthly premium. BUT, we got $15,000 YEARLY coverage. If this seems like a lot, trust someone who has been through two cancer surgeries in one year for one dog!! Of note, it is rough for all (people and beloved canine) to go through this....BUT, knowing we were covered by EMBRACE has helped us get through. And, also, we aggressively have kept an eye on her developing any other bumps or lumps without worry of how we would pay for there removal. Early detection and surgery when these things are small has been the difference. And, hopefully, this good fortune will continue. She is feeling great! (We are lucky to have board certified surgeon and oncologist...so skilled at dealing with cancer...) Many of the negative reviews stem from EMBRACE not covering "pre-existing" conditions. To this I say 2 things. Get your dog (or cat) insured NOW before things happen. Also, having had one small portion of one claim denied (less than $100 lab work), I can speak to that. The lab determined that one of her bumps was a "hair folicle cyst" so that lab work on that one thing was not covered. This was because before we insured her 2 years ago, she had had a "bump" removed previously that proved to be one of these and, thus, any further cysts of this kind are not covered as they are likely to reoccur. But, EMBRACE has covered every other item for this particular dog over the past almost 2 years and the reimbursements (we have 90%) have been in the thousands. This year we have had over $7,000 paid out for the two surgeries and all that goes with that (diagnostics such as CT scan, ultrasound, chest x-rays, liver and spleen aspirations....) in addition to some bladder stone issues which required X-rays as well. This company can be trusted to cover things that are not "pre-existing" conditions. SO, if you have any questions as you research policies and companies, ask them to review your dog's / cat's records and find out if any exist. They can also be trusted to cover any care your vet thinks necessary. For example, in August this dog had a soft tissue sarcoma. The surgeon said it would increase his ability to precisely remove it and get "clean margins" if we had a CT scan to show exactly where its boundaries were. The scan also was helpful in determining that the cancer had not spread. We were able to have this

Embrace is 100% THE BEST!
I have reviewed before so I won't write my usual super long one! But, honestly, it is hard to NOT go on forever about what a fantastic company Embrace is! If you are trying to decide on whether or not to get insurance for your beloved dog or cat, look no further! We have insured several dogs for almost 2 years now and, very simply, Embrace has covered every dollar of every vet bill (we don't have "wellness", so I am only speaking to illness and injury)! They cover exactly what they say they will....they do not question the amount the vet charges. I should say, our most recent claim (3 weeks ago) was for nearly $5,000 for a soft tissue sarcoma surgery for one of our dogs and all the care that goes with that! This is a cancer that can have "deep roots", so the board certified surgeon recommended a CT scan before the surgery to determine exactly where he needed to cut to get the required clean margins (if there are not clean margins, you have left cancer in the body). We did the CT scan which guided his, it seems!, successful surgery. (Lab work shows clean margins.) Embrace covered this expensive diagnostic tool, the surgery, etc....They processed the claim within a few days and 2 days later we had 90% of the expenses back in our checking account! With 5 dogs now, we selected a $1,000 deductible for each to lower the monthly premium. Also, picked the 90% reimbursement after the deductible for each is met and $15,000 coverage for each dog (vet bills get get high fast!!!) SUCH peace of mind!!!! Thank you, Embrace, for being there! Super nice customer service as well!!!!

THE BEST
I have submitted other glowing reviews so, I will just say, ONCE AGAIN, that EMBRACE is simply THE BEST!! If you are searching for insurance for your beloved dog or cat, stop right here and go with EMBRACE. We have had 4 dogs insured since 12/2014 and, truly, this is a terrific company in all ways possible! We went with high deductible ($1,000) to lower the monthly premium for 4 dogs....but, have $15,000 ANNUAL coverage PER dog; one illness or accident can run into very high costs! Last fall, one dog had mast cell cancer surgery and paying the bills was the least of our worries. We had a board-certified surgeon remove the "bump" and we follow- up now with an oncologist every 2-3 months to check for recurrence. Embrace has been there for us every step of the way! We recommend them to everyone!!!And, they answer the phone when you call!!!! Who does that anymore?!
SUPER nice customer service reps who always answer your questions easily and quickly......I should reiterate....they process claims quite quickly and without any "hassle"....they cover exactly what they say they will when you sign on.....incredible peace of mind....get Embrace insurance!

Slow pay on claims
ASPCA acts like the insurance carriers do for human medical claims. They engage in long periods of review and then request additional records. I have to cash fund claims for my pets and then wait weeks and weeks for reimbursements that claims examiners pick apart. Definitely not fast claim service as they represent their organization to be known for.

Deny Claims Often
They denied multiple claims because they were not titled how ASPCA would have liked them. I paid 150 for a vet visit thinking most of it would be covered. The exam, heartworm, and vaccinations. After the claim came back, their titles were different than my vets titles for the exam, and my vet checked for heartworm, which the company read as giving heartworm mess. Overall terrible unless you have an animal that will never get injured or need to go to the vet
