Fairly quick with no problems
In the past it has been fairly quick with no problems. This last claim I forgot I even submitted it until I got this survey in the mail. Got an email awhile ago that there was a delay because of a high volume of claims. Still waiting on a decision.

BOGUS DENIAL
Got my puppy (German Shephard) and went to my vet shortly after to get her checked up and get everything going for her spay. We then started noticing after her surgery, that when we were teaching her how to sit, we could feel her hips popping. So as a RESPONSIBLE pet owner should, we went into the vet to try to figure out whats going on. The vet said it could be hip dysplasia but the only way to know for sure is that we do an x-ray. So we say OK and the vet said but in case it is, it would be a good idea to get pet insurance as it could become costly. And they recommanded us to Trupanion. So we got it and then a couple months after getting her policy we take her to have her hips x-rayed. And she does have bilateral hip dysplasia. So i submit my claim on it because we now have an appointment to have a surgical consultation because its so severe and shes not even a year old yet. They are taking forever to process the claim so i call and they say they sent me an email, (which they didnt) to get more info from me. So i tell them she has her consultation next week so i need the claim expedited to get everything squared away. So they do and not only have they denied my claim for her x-ray and diagnosis, but they have also denied the surgery coming up because of the time i took her to the vet because her hips popped. So because her hips popped before i got coverage (EVEN THOUGH SHE WASNT DIAGNOSED YET) they consider it pre-existing and will not cover anything. They claim to all be pet lovers and pet owners and understanding but at the end of the day that dont care about anything but the money. DO NOT EVER USE THEM as im sure they will do the same to your beloved pet when they are in need.

Exactly Why We Opted For Pet Insurance
We obtained this insurance for exactly what it is to be used for - insurance against the potential unknown treatment needs of our dog.
We have had this coverage for nearly 3 years, from when we brought our boy home from the breeder as a 7 week old pup. We have had no issues with claim submissions and processing of submitted expenses have been quick.
We hope to not need to utilize the coverage in the future, but we have the added comfort of knowing we have the protection of this coverage should it be needed.

My boy wouldn’t be alive without Nationwide
We had had insurance on my pup for a few years and only within the past year did we actually have to utilize it. He is my first dog and he is my everything so when he got a cancerous tumor and subsequent tumors, I wanted to do everything I could to get him the best treatment possible. Having nationwide allowed me to do that! I was able to do what I could to treat him instead of just giving up on him because of cost. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t enrolled him. Thank you for your timeliness in filing my claims, your compassion in answering my questions...I know I had a lot of them!...and for allowing me to get the best possible care for my boy, you’ve literally saved his life for me!
