Saved $1200 on Jake's latest health problem
In general I've been glad I have had pet insurance. They are still probably making a profit (which is fine), but on big ticket items I have definitely gotten reimbursed substantial amounts of money. The last claim was for $2,000, which I received $1,200 back. They pay in a timely manner with good explanations of what is covered.

Truth in Advertising
Imagine this: you buy an insurance policy, and pay your premiums. Then, you submit a claim, and the insurance company covers everything, exactly as specified in your policy. No tricks, no double talk, no deception. How often does that happen these days? With Embrace, it does.
My dog recently had some benign skin growths removed, plus X-rays for a possible ligament tear. Embrace covered the surgical cost, the anesthesia, the hospitalization, biopsy, x-rays . . . everything, less deductible and co-pay. And, they did it fast.
I did a lot of research before selecting embrace for my pet insurance. I feel that I made a great choice.

Unfair
I had a dog enrolled in this plan for two years (Policy period July - July).
In January I brought him to the vet to have a growth looked at, and the following January I had it looked at again, when it was recommended that I have it removed. ASPCA would not cover it because it was originally diagnosed in another plan period, and it was now considered "preexisting."
Totally wrong. This is absurd!

Faxed in paperwork and got my check in 2 weeks.
Faxed in my dogs medical history, appointment invoice, and diagnosis and got a check for everything my policy entitled me to. The only downside was my premium went up $3/month after the claim.

Trupanion - thumbs up
Fortunately my vet office was offering a free 30 day promotional trial for trupanion pet insurance and the front desk person lectured me about signing up because it wouldn't work if I didn't go on line and register. Usually I would ignore and not follow through, but I took her advise. I honestly never believed in pet insurance - always thought it was a scam. My 3 1/2 month old Great Dane puppy got really sick quickly. She wasn't eating, extremely weak with 105 temp. She got referred to the Emergency/specialist vet and was kept overnight for observation testing, IV etc. The bill was about $2,200 and I got back $1,600 from trupanion in about 2 weeks!!! I am still going to submit the prescription medication receipts which I think will also be covered. Communication and follow through were great. I have read reviews that their costs increases after the first year even though they claim they don't do that, so time will tell. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that they didn't cover the specialists office visit. So I had already paid my regular vet visit and then got referred to the specialist, they charged me another office visit 10 minutes later. So even though it was a referral they didn't cover that office visit. All XRAYS, overnight care, IV etc were all covered. I am "sold" and have signed on for a year!

Best Pet Insurance, Highly Recommend
I spent many hours researching pet insurance as I had previously had insurance with another company and was not satisfied. I highly recommend Healthly Paws to anyone looking to insure their pet. One example of their exemplary service is how I faxed in my dog's insurance claim on a Sunday at 12:00 pm and by 5:00 pm I received an email letting me know my claim was processed and my payment was be sent out. Payment has always been within 5 days. They have always been there to answer all my questions and I have also pre-submitted estimates to check coverage ahead of time. I have have let all my friends and family know about this company including the Animal Hospital where my dog under went his surgery.

Claim Reimbursement
My little terrier was taken to the hospital when we felt a lump on his front leg the size of a golf ball thankfully it was fatty tissue and not cancer. Embrace immediately followed up with the clinic and reimbursement us shortly after the claim had been received by them. The service provided by Embrace in handling my claim is the most professional and expedient service I have ever received.
