Good except for usual & customary benefits limits
I've had this insurance for a couple of years now and it's always been easy to file a claim and they do always reimburse part of my bills without any hassles... however, I've never gotten anywhere near the 80% that they claim to pay... it's always far less than that- they claim this is because my actual bills are more than what they consider to be "usual and customary" costs. Which would be fine except that I'm not sure where they get those amounts from- I've had the same experience at multiple different vets in two states, so it seems that all vets charge more than what they believe is customary. Other than that insurance is fine, but I did opt for another carrier when I got a new dog last year- they pay 80% of the actual bill- no limits on the charges.

Expensive But Worth it
I have 4 pets insured by Trupanion, and early on realized that I didn't want to have deductible because the bills kept coming to just below the deductible amount. So I pay extra for zero deductible and get 90% reimbursement on everything but preexisting conditions and the standard exam costs. Covers illness and accident only, no preventive or routine care. I have filed numerous claims with them and their turnaround time is very reasonable. My oldest dog has cancer and the bill is already in $5000 range and overall reimbursement has been 85-90% of costs incurred to date.

great performance over the years
I bought a $500 deductible / $10k max accident/illness policy from embrace in 2007 when my dog was about a year old. Because of the relatively high deductible, we had never even submitted a claim until our dog had a serious neck pain issue in 2011. I was very nervous at the time -- we'd been paying this company for four years and you hear all these horror stories, plus once you have an existing condition then you can't switch companies without losing coverage... what if I'd chosen a bad company back in 2007?
You can imagine my relief when Embrace was a joy to deal with. My dog ultimately needed an expensive MRI in 2007, and Embrace returned my approved precertification within a day and a half and quickly and fairly paid each claim once I submitted them. It was great to know that my dog (and my finances) are in good hands!
My dog's pain has recurred, and I've just had another great experience with a quick MRI precertification and payment.
My dog's neurologist volunteered that has she worked with a variety of insurance companies, arguing that tests and procedures should be covered, and that while she has seen some other companies get harder to deal with in recent years, and some have always been a nightmare, Embrace remains among the top of her list.
Thanks, Embrace!

An extremely efficient organization.
I recently had my 18 month old Hananese neutered. I was particularly impressed with the speed in which my claim was handled along with the follow-up emails from the Embrace staff checking on my pups health after his surgery and keeping me up to date with the progress of my claim.

is pet insurance worth the cost?
Embrace is certainly a better choice that VIP, which I had for my former dog, a Husky who lived to be 17 1/2.Embrace staff is super wonderful and thoughtful.
Embrace will cover inherited breed disorders as well.
However, it's expensive; but if my poodle gets very sick, god forbid...so far at 11 yrs plus he's been in amazing health....i know Embrace will be there for that just incase cost of treatment.
I have it for the worst case scenario and will keep it for this wonderful white standard poodle whom I adore.
my latest claims have been reviewed and the staff has been meticulous and fair!
what more could I want from an insurance provider unless they're non-profit.

great service and reliable
I started with Embrace 2years ago with my Toy Fox Terrier when he was 3mos. So far he has only required Wellness coverage. I have the Veterinarian complete the form and I fax it with the bill.I have chosen direct deposit and it seems to go like clockwork. It gives me great peace of mind to have this coverage and I would recommend Embrace to anyone with a pet. Wish I had done it with my last dog whom I got at 7yrs and just assumed it was too late.

Pet Insurance is a must have
you think you are throwing money away each month when you see that you are paying for pet insurance. But when something major happens to your pet (and it usually does, whether it is an accident or not) the pet insurance pays for itself. ASPCA has been so helpful with my one pug who seems to always be getting sick and my other pug who just gets into everything that is toxic for dogs. We usually get 50-80 percent of the bills covered and that is extremely helpful when that includes hospital stays. they are also very easy to deal with and make the process very simple so you don't have to worry about that during the stressfulness of your sick pet.

FANTASTIC insurance company!!
I did a lot of comparison shopping for dog insurance before purchasing Healthy Paws, and I am very glad I did. My dog had a CCL rupture (she's only two years old) and needed a TPLO surgery, costing $3200. The claim process is very simple, Healthy Paws was very quick to respond and we received our reimbursement check less than 2 weeks after first filing. I even received a follow up email from Healthy Paws to check on how my dog was recovering. Great customer service and I would DEFINITELY recommend this company to other pet parents. It's a small monthly expense that delivers such peace of mind in knowing your furry friend is covered!
