RIPOFF
My dog almost died from an ulcer that was caused by an arthritis medication prescribed by my VET. Trupanion refuses to pay.
Trupanion did not have dysplasia coverage before May of 2013.
Jasmine (my sweet dog) has recently developed arthritis (after May 2013) in her back hip. she is a 41/2 year old lab mix. The Vetinarian precribed Deramaxx which ended up causing an ulcer that almost killed her. The total treatment cost was about 5000.00
Trupanion claims she has dysplasia and had it prior to when they started their coverage. since the medication was prescribed for the arthritis in which again they claim is dysplasia they are refusing to pay for any part of her treatment.
The diagnosis from the doctor is a little spot of arthritis in an x-ray that was taken recently . The X-ray does not show any separation in her hips and was sent to them with a note from the doctor saying she does not have dysplasia and certainly couldn['t have had it prior since its not curable.
But they still refused to pay anything. They are basing their diagnosis on a conversation i had with my doctor last year and again earlier this year about how she was not jumping and running like she used to. I mentioned that she had a limp when she got up from lying down which was true but it was a front leg injury and had nothing to do with her back legs.
After they refused to pay i requested all records and so included in those records was Jasmine's Paw Print which was created by Trupanion and

Wellness Rewards worthwhile
My experience with using the Wellness rewards has been positive. The process is simple and the response has always been prompt. One time a Bath Service claim I submitted was denied. When I enquired why, the Embrace staff took the time to determine that the nail clipping portion of the service was indeed eligible. So far, we haven't had an illness claim, but I am so pleased to have the insurance and confident all will go smoothly.

Scammers
Agree with all comments made by others, how they request records over and over and try to find a reason not to pay you even when your vet will state something is not pre-existing. They paid for a so called "pre-existing condition last year" and now they don't. But don't go to their website and try to find anything - their claims page is an ABSOLUTE joke. The costs have gone up every year. We'd all be better off if we set aside a little money for our pets to use to pay the bills. Then we could invest it and not them. Like everything else, it is all about the money. By the way, I have pets insured with Trupanion (I will be discontinuing the policies and/or changing to other companies for at least 4 of them). For 5 pets, I pay them over $2,500 a year, and they denied me about $200 on a recent claim because it was pre-existing". Also, save every piece of paperwork from them and your vet, and we'll have tpo start blogging about the correct terminology to be used. Vets don't know - insurance is still new to them, too. If the vet submits the right code (an honest code), you get paid.

Best Investment To Safeguard Our Pet's Health
We have had our Golden Retriver's health, accident & wellness insurance through ASPCA since she was 3 years old. Over the past six years, whenever there was an illness, accident or wellnes exam ASPCA was there to help pay the bills. Over the past 3 years, our pet has experienced a bladder infection, ear infections,a gastro problem [most probably caused by the dry dog food she was on which the mfr had a recall],& a sprained front paw from stepping in a mole hole while running in an open field. ASPCA never failed to live up to their advertised promises.

Great caring response.
Our dog, Mickey, scratched his eye and it was watering and tearing constantly. The vet treated him several time and finally cured the scratch on his cornea. The claim we filed was handled quickly and efficiently. Thank you ASPCA Insurance.

I am a satisfied customer.
Our dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes. So far, all of our claims have been handled professionally, and courteously by Embrace staff. We haven't used up our deductible yet so I can't comment on reimbursement.
