My Pet Had To Be Fully Sedated At...
My pet had to be fully sedated at my vets office to get exam and x-rays for a torn cruciate ligament. The insurance paid all but my deductible and copayment. Unfortunately, my pet will be going for surgery to repair her leg, I'm hoping I will get the reimbursement on that as well!

Fast, Easy & Fair ~ I wish every pet parent used Trupanion ...
Both of our dogs have benefited from our decision to get Trupanion. Claims process is easy, fast and fair. Trupanion is consistent with their claim decisions and the cost is reasonable. I recommend it frequently and enthusiastically to others. It's hard to watch any pet owner make a decision about their pet's life or quality of life based on cost of care.

They are amazing!
TRUPANION:
1) They do not have annual renewals, so they do not drop you at the next renewal if you have too many claims, nor do they exclude a condition like Addison's in year #2 if diagnosed in year #1--my horse insurance company did both of those
2) They don't exclude breed-specific issues, such as Addison's for Spoodles
3) Your rate at which you join is your rate for your pet's life. Mac joined at 10 months, so he has the under 1 year rate for life. Cost may go up due to health cost increases, but not due to your dog's age. Other companies, such as VPI, increase your rate each year based on your pet's age, by the time your dog is 10 years old, the rate is over $100 per month
4) They have had GREAT customer service
5) They reimburse 90% of ACTUAL costs, not usual and customary charges
6) you choose the deductible that makes you comfortable.
7) No annual limit on payouts.
8) Deductible is for lifetime of the pet, not per year. We paid $250 for Kobe’s Addison’s post-diagnosis, and we do not have to meet that deductible again.
Only down side is that they don't cover the cost of the vet visit, but IMHO, that is small potatoes compared to everything else. I have heard good things about Embrace as well, but watch out for increasing premiums as your dog ages. You want to make sure you can afford the policy when your dog really needs it when they are older.
