Rate skyrockets as pet gets older
I absolutely loved this plan when I had it for my previous, now deceased, dog. The entire package was great...rates, plans, coverage, customer service. I chose the accident/illness/wellness plan (the premium plan), and stayed with the plan for many years, and the rate increased with time of course, but reasonably. Then when my dog turned 11, they raised my rate from $800 to $2400 saying that my dog was now old and would need extra care, hence the high rate. I could not afford this and cancelled the insurance. The company offered me coverage under a basic plan (barebones) for the price I used to pay for the premium plan, $800, but I felt like I was being price-gouged, and unappreciated for my previous business. Since I could not get a different insurance, because most companies will not insure an older dog in a new policy, my dog had no insurance from then until he died two years later. Luckily he did not require much vet care other than vaccines and an occasional treatment. Most companies will not cover pets for costly chronic conditions anyway, like cancer or organ failure, so I felt that it was outrageous that my rate increased like that after I had been such a loyal customer for years. I escalated this issue with the company's management to no avail...they were so rude as to inform me that in some years they actually paid me more for claims than what I had paid as my premium, so that I had in fact actually "made money" from my policy. Isn't that how it sometimes goes with insurance? What business do they think they are in? If their rates are not profitable enough for them, they should reset them, not drop or price-gouge loyal customers who would never have anticipated this action. Be sure to ask companies what their rate schedule is as the pet ages, and get a specific ceiling on the price before buying. Or plan that you might not have affordable pet insurance for older pets, regardless of how long you have had your policy.

Excellent service and care
Trupanion was great through the whole month of August in dealing with our cat Jack's sickness. We brought him in because he was not eating. We had exploratory surgery and did Biopsies to see what the problem may have been and Trupanion was great-working with our Vet and processing the claim immediately and covering the expenses at 90%. I would refer Trupanion to anyone looking for Pet Insurance.

Thankful
When I rescued Ellie, a paraplegic French Bull, I had a very difficult time finding an insurance company. I read up on reviews and spent some time talking to various companies. The insurance company for my other dogs denied care. Healthy Paws, although they did want a copy of Ellie's exam and had some exclusions, was much more welcoming than others. I went with Healthy Paws and they have been wonderful. They are attentive, quick to respond and caring about their "clients". When Ellie had surgery recently it was all about Ellie and how she was doing. It comforts me to have Healthy Paws aligned with Elle's care. Thanks!

They are the best!
We decided to insure our daughter's service dog (Doberman) thru Trupanion after learning that our Vet uses this insurance for his own pets. It has been a truly wonderful experience working with Trupanion. They have answered questions thoroughly, worked well with our Vet's office, processed claims promptly and shown a great deal of concern and compassion for the treatment and recovery of our very special dog. I have recommended this company to others considering insuring their pets and will continue to do so without reservation.

My Best Friends vets visit
I just purchased a policy with wellness included. We went to the vet for the initial first visit as required and the claim was covered in full. That was great. However, medication for a condition that was discovered by blood work done at that visit was not covered. But we are happy with the outcome. I would recommend this to pet/people families.

Excellent pet insurance company! Great service!
Our yellow lab, Fiona, was throwing up, and we were very concerned. We were away on vacation and had to take her to a local animal hospital twice, until the situation was resolved. Once she was healthy again, we submitted both of the vet bills to Healthy Paws. They kept us informed at every step of the claim process, and we received our payment check by the time we got back home. They really are an excellent company, and we would highly recommend them!

Great Policies, Top Notch Customer Service!
If you own a French Bulldog, you know that pet insurance is a must. I recently had to make my first claim with Healthy Paws, and the process was completely stress-free. I had a few questions for them and wanted to make sure I was going through the process correctly, and let me tell you, Healthy Paws customer service has the greatest customer service people out there. They were extremely friendly and, of course, helpful. Something you sadly don't get over the phone much these days. Once the claim went through, the check came to me very quickly. I personally love their policies - For the price, you really get a lot of bang for your buck. Taking your pup to the vet, especially in emergency situations, can be a stressful and often emotional experience and the last thing you want to do is worry about costs as you want to do what's best for your pet. Having Healthy Paws helps put my mind at ease and gives me one less thing to worry about. I highly recommend them!

Excellent insurance on all levels
I wanted to thank you for your professional and prompt responses when I filed my recent claims for Brooklyn. It is hard to have a pup who is fragile suddenly and harder with the unexpected costs involved in emergencies.
Your fast reimbursements, the very easy to understand claim reimbursement information and your accessibility for questions makes all easier to handle!
