Dental Procedure Costs
My dog had dental X-Rays in January 2023. Ended up having 2 additional teeth removed (my dog never had a set of X-Rays taken and due 1 tooth falling out unexpectedly my vet recommended the X-Rays). I feel that ALL PET OWNERS SHOULD HAVE PET INSURANCE. Yes it is 1 more bill to pay each month; however, if your pet needs a surgery/procedure done that is costly, the pet insurance will help big time! The dental procedure for my dog without insurance to help me out would have been a little over $1,300.00 out of my own pocket! Who has money like that just sitting around??? With Nationwide Insurance, I pay my monthly premium (premium amount depends on the dog age and general health), after the $250 deductible is paid, Nationwide Pet will pay 90% of the claim and the owner only pays 10% of the claim. With my pet insurance through Nationwide Pet, I was able to afford to have my dog have dental X-Rays, plus have 2 bad teeth pulled out.

Excellent company
Recently, one of my dogs tore her left acl, then 3 months later, she tore her right. Healthy Paws reimbursed us 80% of the cost for each. They also have reimbursed us for medications that are used for her pain. Having them has given us piece of mind. They even checked in with us to see how she was doing.

I’m done
I will be cancelling my 10 years of Trupanion and will be self insuring from now on.
They have done everything to avoid paying out for this claim which was a true emergency. The amount they are giving me is pitiful and not worth all these years of loyal payment. I am done.

Thank you Healthy Paws!
We have had our sweet Mele girl for 10 years and she has just recently been through some health changes and diagnosis of new conditions. Pro:
1. A human answers the phone. You do not have to wade through numerous phone prompts. And not a call center from overseas.
2. They’re efficient and process the claims in a timely manner.
3. They check in every so often to tell you the status of your claims and are kind when you call about it.
4. They are straightforward in what the cover.
5. From social media, they appear to treat their employees well.
Con:
1. My deductible rose dramatically. I think we started at a couple hundred and are now at a $1,000 (already met). Worth it when you own a cavalier. And likely standard in the insurance industry? I don’t know.
I highly recommend Trupanion.

I sleep better with Pets Best
I have Pets Best for both of my Dobermans since they were puppies. Have had zero problems with claims except sometimes it takes a bit to get processed. Easy to submit a claim and if they have questions they contact my vet.
