Best company hands down!

Healthy Paws helped me pay for my dogs IVDD surgery!! $7,000 and they reimbursed 90%! Could not ask for more... But I will hahaha when my pup goes into physical rehabilitation and they will cover what he needs for that as well. They helped to save my dogs life ❤️

Their Exotic Pet Policy Needs A Major Review

Disclaimer: Please ignore the details listed about my pet. I don't have a mixed breed cat. This was just an option I chose so I could post about my experience since my pet option was not available. Also please disregard the claim amount and time. These were also required fields. The plan is absolutely awful. I have two ferrets, and my boyfriend and I were so happy to finally find a pet insurance that caters to exotic pets. We were greatly disappointed when the policy finally arrived. It didn't cover ANYTHING close to the normal costs of owning a pet. This policy was nothing, but a scam to take $114 to start the plan plus an extra $20 per month to continue the plan (the numbers are also per pet by the way) so they could only be protected from extreme circumstances like broken limbs from car accidents. Ferrets are not like dogs and cats, therefore they are not out and about like there fellow furry friends. They are not as highly active where they may in fact injure themselves to the point where they might actually break their own legs. This policy only covered rare, unlucky draw situations and it wasn't worth. My babies are 2 years and 6 months old so they have along time before any of their expected ferret diseases comes to haunt them, which of course, the policy does not cover. Bottom line: If you are a ferret owner, you are better off without this plan. It's not worth your time.

Excellent Service

We have been "Embraced" for 5 years for our two Springer Spaniels. We have been beyond satisfied with the fast turn-around on claims. The personalized claim form is perfect, and our vet simply faxes it in, and I receive an email the following day --- and the check soon thereafter. Great Insurance for our pets.

Worst company

We have had vpi for 18 years. My dog sophie, now deceased, was denied coverage for diagnostic testing of lymphoma. We were told it wasn't necessary. As a certified vet tech and claims adjuster for petplan, this was a large disappointment. A needle aspirate is the only way to diagnose lymphoma which was not a pretty existing condition. At petplan, if a condition is coverable, we cover diagnostics and treatment. This was sophie's first ever claim and we are being nit picked and denied the necessary $200 test reimbursement. They have made this whole experience a nightmare and have lost a customer... BTW customer service sounds like they have no idea what it means to deal with these situations

Not impressed

We have a French Bulldog puppy, who developed a few issues, and although Pets Best reimbursed one or two claims, everytime we submitted a claim it would get rejected, asking for more explanation before they will pay. our Frenchie had some kidney issue, we had to run some bloodwork, and rerun bloodwork a month later, the first claim they paid the second one related to the first one they rejected. It's a constant battle with the insurance everytime we submit a claim. Another incident where our frenchie developed a cherry eye, we paid over $2000 for surgery and they didn't pay us back for that either, we had to ask the vet to submit another explanation and we are still waiting for an answer. Not a happy customer.!

STAY AWAY

When my Cocker Spaniel was 8 years old he was diagnosed with thyroid and would need medication and periodical testing for the rest of his life. When I went to renew his policy for the next year, I was told that his thyroid was now an exisiting condition and he would never be covered for it again. That is ludicrous. Unfornutately he passed shortly before the new policy was to take effect ( unrelated to the thyroid) and I can extract myself from these vultures. There were other issues with them but this one was the final straw.

Embrace is the best

My OESD had a bad year - not too serious tho. A tick disease plus a hematoma in his hear. Everything is back to normal. Having Embrace was a blessing that helped me through each of the incidents.
