My mixed breed terrier is a little past her first birthday and has treated heartworm disease. She was doing fine and then was sluggish for a couple of days and then collapsed after walking up a flight of stairs. I took her to the nearest animal hospital and she was admitted with severe anemia and low platelets. This appears to have been an immune reaction to the treated heartworm disease. Embrace reviewed the claim in just a couple of days and approved payment of over $2500.00 for hospitalization and treatment almost immediately without any quibbling at all. My experience with Embrace has been and continues to be very positive.

Healthy Paws Insurance is the best pet insurance I have ever had! Not only do they file their claims on time and make it user friendly, they also care so much about your pets! After our dog passed away last year, they sent us a really nice note to check in on us and send their deepest sympathy. They also did the same with our new puppy who was in the hospital for a week. I couldn't be happier with Healthy Paws!

Trupanion has been incredibly good at covering issues with my dog. The premiums are definitely going up over time which would be my only complaint. I pay over twice as much as when I signed up 8 years ago or so.

I was pleased with the responsiveness to my claims and the email communications. I understood that my deductible had to be met, the percentage you would be paying, and why wellness/preventive care and medications for anxiety for the cat would not be covered...but I was taken aback that Trupanion does not cover an exam/consult from a cardiac specialist. I understand, that an exam would not be covered for wellness..but when the animal is sick or has a condition? That was never disclosed to me and seems disingenuous to me....just my 2 cents...I have had VPI(now Nationwide) for 12 years for our dog. This is not how they operate...

I have been extremely happy with our insurance plan for our dog Luna. In fact, I have recommended and referred it to several friends. We have not had many claims since Luna's first year, mainly wellness visits. I was very disappointed to see our monthly premium jump 10% to nearly $100/month. That means I am now paying more for my dog's insurance than myself and my son's monthly premium combined. So far this year we have gotten back 206.21 from our $1085.28 in premiums. Now we are paying $100/year more and using the insurance less. Even more frustrating, we were never told that the rates go up as the dog ages when we first got the plan. I think the rate hike in our case is unfair and unwarranted given how much money you are making with us as customers. As a result, we are now looking at other pet insurance plans outside Nationwide. We would like to keep the wellness plan since that is primarily what we use it for but not at this price. It seems to me Nationwide should consider doing what car insurance companies do for customers like us who do not use the services as often so you get discounts based on that. I am hoping you consider that for us so we don't have to leave.
