Positive experience
During the past 10 years of working with Pet-First (now MetLife), I have had good service for my pets (3 West Highland Terriers). I find their customer service team especially helpful. Please keep up the good work and don't fall into such cost savings for your organization that you go the way of many healthcare (pet and human) companies today. Thank you and we look forward to continued positive support with our pet.

No sense of responsability and MEDIOCRE customer service
This company has been OK (no claims so far) until we had to update our credit card expiration date. After calling EACH month for FOUR months in a row because of payment issues, it appears that their system is unable to process credit card update!!!! Each month, i get messages from them threating to end the policy because the payment does not go through and each month i call back to do the payment with the exact same card that is on file and it goes perfectly fine. Customer service basically said there is no solution and they are looking into it but I, as a customer, have to provide them with another payment method and there is nothing they can do on their end. I disagree because ALL my bills, more than 10, go through the same card with automatic billing without any issue and I am not going to open another card just for Trupanion. I was then advised that I can end my policy at any time, which basically means, Trupanion doesn't care if I stay or not as customer. I had requested multiple times to speak with a supervisor but no one is available and I will only be called back in a week. I have not had to put in a claim but and honestly this whole incident does not inspire any trust in me. Trupanion does not have a sens of responsability toward their customers and I am definitely changing insurer for my dog.

Consistent, good service.
I've used Pets Plus Us for 2 golden retrievers, at the recommendation of our vet, and after using a different insurer for other pets. PPU comes out on top for service, ease of use and speed.

Representative that I worked with was very responsive to my questions. Liked how Trupanion pays for 90% of diagnostics, surgery etc. for those high expenses associated with each event.

I chose this score because I recently had an appointment with my cat who had ingested foreign materials and the cost of just X-rays and bloodwork made my face drop.
I compared a lot of companies and I feel trupanion offers the best comprehensive plans.
