insurance on your pet to me is just the right thing to do.
Nationwide has taken care of our pet for almost ten years. It is such a relief to now worry about taking your pet to the vet's and then having to worry about the cost of surgery/etc. Nationwide is pet care at the top of the line. Our vet posts a sign her office re: Nationwide. Take good care of yourself and your pet!

Used to be something different/better
Nationwide used to be amazing- I had heard horror stories of pet insurance from clients (used to work at a vet practice) so I was nervous to get it, but I signed up my Irish Wolfhound as a puppy. It was great. He was on the Wellness Plus which was a $250/annual deductible with up to 90% back. I never had any issues submitting claims/getting money back. Now, three years later, it's like a totally different company. Claims take forever- I'd say at least 1/2 of my claims are denied and I have to resubmit just to have them approved that time (doubling my wait times for reimbursement)- customer service has really gone downhill and while they claim to not raise your rates due to illness, my wolfhound went from like $85/month the first year to $125/month the next year and we're at a whopping $145/month on year three. When I asked why he's gone up so much, no one would tell me. I would've respected them much more if they said he had "x" happen so that had to raise rates, but they just give the same line of "well, prices fluctuate based on market" etc. Of course now I can't take him off because he would have a pre-existing condition with any other insurance, so I'm stuck. To give you some idea of what it's like to enroll a new pet with this new Nationwide, I tried to get my newly adopted mastiff onto their wellness plus plan about 6 months ago (he is 2 years old) and he was denied due to 'pre-existing condition'. I was shocked & asked to speak to someone, as he doesn't have any medical issues to my knowledge, as his owner. Well he was denied for, and I cannot believe it either... ache. My dog has chin acne because of how heavy his head is and the little hairs on his chin get impacted sometimes... which isn't uncommon with this breed and is not a 'medical condition'. I asked to speak to a vet on staff or have my vet call in to speak to someone to explain, as this had to just be some misunderstanding and was shut down. I was shocked. Just beware with Nationwide now. It used to be such a good company but it has changed a lot.

Nationwide Pet Was Awesome!
My daughter got her dog as an emotional support animal to help her recover from mental illness. Lorde has been the difference maker in her mental health. I work at Nationwide and heard from a peer how having insurance helped them to save their son's dog, something they otherwise might not have been able to afford. I knew that my daughter would need us to do anything we could to keep Lorde with her given how much he had done and continued to do for her mental health. We decided to buy the Pet Insurance through Nationwide to ensure we wouldn't have to say no to going the distance for Lorde's health if the worst happened.
When Lorde ate something that made him sick by accident and ended up needing an overnight stay in the hospital Nationwide Pet helped us do what needed to be done to keep him healthy. He's fine now and my daughter still has her best friend to help her with her emotional health. Thanks to Nationwide Pet for making it easier for us to support our daughter and Lorde!

Lifesaver
It is just a relief to know Harper and her 2 kitty brothers, Max and Jake, can get the best care and Mom and Dad aren’t as worried about how to pay for it. We have had many furkids and no insurance. Closed many savings accounts paying for the costs to keep them with us. So thankful we have Nationwide now. And I always respond to people on my many Rhodesian Ridgeback groups you are the best and to call you for the best quotes.

I am so thankful for ASPCA Pet Insurance!
I have ASPCA Pet insurance for both my dogs. Recently one of my dogs became very ill and I was at my vet or the emergency vet 2-3 times a week. It turned out she had a rare kidney infection and is now doing much better, but the testing and vet bills really added up quick. ASPCA handled my claims quickly and I received payments on some of the larger bills in just a few days. It was a blessing because those funds were needed for her continued care, since this was an issue that took a couple months to diagnose and clear up. It is also very easy to submit the claims on their website. It only takes a few minutes. I really appreciate ASPCA being there for me.
