Easy Enough

Overall, I'm happy with Nationwide Pet Insurance. I have the most expensive protection plan (My Pet Protection With Wellness), but so far it's nice because all medical expenses are covered at 90% and wellness at 100%. It's expensive, but I rather have the piece of mind. I lost my previous little boy almost a year ago and my previous plan (which was also with Nationwide) wasn't as extensive. The plan covered a lot, but the last hospital expenses were a bit hefty, so I don't want to deal with that again. It's enough dealing with the pain, so the last thing you want to do is deal with vet bills and haggle with an insurance company. The only thing that annoys me is that it takes a minimum of 30 days to process your claim. The first claim I had with my new rescue pup took about 3 months because Nationwide Pet Insurance wanted all the paperwork on his previous history. My vet's office kept sending it, but I guess they weren't sending it with the correct cover page, and it kept getting rejected. It was finally processed, but it did take a bit. It's hard to get a complete history on a rescue animal.

Have been pleased the past 13plus years. Have had our 2 babies insured with you for their entire lives. Year ago lost one of our children and both us and our LuLu miss Brandy. You have been efficient and as advertised. Thank you.

It’s A Luxury Item

From the lengthy claims process, to the cloaked underwriting process, I believe that this luxury item (as I was told by a customer service representative) is not worth what I pay. I thought I had selected an appropriate healthcare option for my dog, but after three weeks of waiting, and after being charged a deposit for a “luxury” product I couldn’t evaluate and willingly accept (because of the “underwriting” process), I felt slighted. It became even more apparent when our first few visits weren’t covered due to this lengthy “underwriting” period- despite the fact that I had been charged for a product I didn’t have. When I purchase car insurance, or health insurance, I know what I’m buying when I buy it. When I buy the “luxury product” that is pet insurance, I pay and then wait for the terms to emerge from a mysterious fog. Furthermore, when I am told that my “wellness plan” that I had only one option to select, and couldn’t upgrade until 1 year later, only covered a certain amount of visits. This is a pathetic product. I called to complain because this is a shady business practice and completely unhelpful to responsible pet owners. I was told that it is my prerogative to buy pet insurance because it is a luxury item. That to me was shocking and insulting. Pets aren’t jewelry, they aren’t a home, and they aren’t a car; and yet when I buy insurance for any of those other things, I’m guaranteed exactly what I expect. Coverage- plain and simple. Your luxury item is as poor as your attitude towards the life and wellness of my dog. I’m not recommending your product to anyone- and I am not going to continue paying for your services.

Too long to get reimbursement

My only major complaint is that it takes between 30-45 days of submitting a claim to get reimbursement.

I am so happy I found nationwide for my dogs insurance! It has helped me in so many ways.

My dog has pancreatitis and often has flare ups so we end up at her vet if possible or at an emergency hospital... nationwide is the best choice I made for insurance for my baby... they are always there and help with most of her medical expenses

Highly recommend!!!

My first experience with pet insurance. I did my homework and Pets Best seemed like the right choice and I was correct. Easy claim process and speedy payment right to my bank account. Highly recommend!!!

This insurance really helped out

Grateful

When I saw my pet needed emergency surgery I was immediately stressed. The cost was high and needed to be paid up front. At first I cried, and then proceeded to cry again when I realized Nationwide covered everything. Never felt so good about an insurance company before! Extremely grateful.
