Worst Insurance
Pets Best is one of the worst pet insurance companies. Whenever I make any claim, they lump everything together with "Preexisting Condition." My dog has an ear infection, and they claim that my dog's skin allergies are causing severe ear infections. My vet thinks it is otherwise, but it is a bacterial infection. I am frustrated with this insurance.

Very Pleased
I have not had insurance in the past. Met Life has made it very easy to put in a claim.. I can either download the bill for my dog via an email statement or just snap a pic and add...very easy! They keep you aware of the process and when to expect payment. My dog has had pre-existing conditions but they pick up with anything new from when I started the insurance and have not raised rates at all with my renewal, in fact, I got $500 more coverage the next year for FREE!

Nares surgery
After being told Nares surgery is usually covered by Pets Best I was very disappointed that my claim was denied! I knew Nitro had a problem with nares at my first vet visit. I had hoped it would resolve on its own but his breathing continued to get worse. I have never dealt with this problem before and was not happy my Ins. denied the claim. It affected his breathing and needed to be fixed. I felt this was a valid claim!

Horrible Pet Insurance turn-around time!
I have abeen a customer of Pet Best Insurance and pay $110(!)/month total for both my dog and cat. I recently submitted three claims for reimbursement. One was for an RX which was processed and reimbursed in a timely manner, and the other two which were for my dog's annual exam is still "being processed" despite the fact that it has been 10+ days since it was submitted!
When attempting to reach the company via email to inquire why their was a hold-up, I discovered that there was no way to do so. The only way to communicate is via phone call. I placed said call and was put thru numerous hoops and menus to attemot to reach a human. I finally refused to push anymore numbers and thus was placed on a torturous hold with the same annoying message repeated in a loop about accessing the FAQ section online. After this, I reached a lovely customer service rep (at least this was a bright spot!) who informed me that it can take 15-45 days to process a claim!!
Unfortunately, there wasn't anything she could do to expedite but siad she would submit a complaint on my behalf.
Needless to say, I will cancel this horrible insurance and seek a better option that can process in a timely way in the same way that they are timely to request and receive my monthly payments!

More Difficult than Medicare and SSA to Manage
When we signed up in 2020, they had good reviews. Once in, you have to upload all of your pets history, which we did. For 4 and a half years we have been canceled once with no notice because the card expired. Guess what, you have to reload all your doxuments, two week before we knew because we checked the card. Biggest issue is all their time, we had one claim approved to our deductible. The others they ran into lack is docs. We have a service dog, so everything has been provided every time.
Their fees also are outrageous for the lack of coverage.
Go anywhere but here.

large increases
after first year metlife pet insurance increased 100
100% increase after first year ---- i stuck with them because first year was affordable. Now its obvious when i will need my dogs insurance most in the future it will be unaffordable for a $5500. payout yearly plan with a $250 deductlible. MetLife you are now priced out of my ballpark. !

Stay away from MetLife dog insurance
We first signed up with MetLife on December 29, 2022, for a pet insurance policy with 100% coverage and a $200 annual deductible. The monthly premium was quoted at $65.36. Our dog, a Great Dane mix, had just turned one on October 31, 2022, and had no pre-existing conditions at the time.
When it came time to renew the policy on December 29, 2023, the coverage remained the same, but the premium increased to $90.30/month — a 38% hike. When I reached out to MetLife, I was told the increase was due to rising veterinary costs in our area. We accepted the new rate and moved on.
However, on November 23, 2024, I received an email stating our policy would renew again on December 29, 2024 — this time with a new premium of $182.20/month. That’s a 100.17% increase from the $90.30/month we were paying just one year ago! I called MetLife on November 24, 2024, to ask about the drastic rate hike. I spoke to two representatives. The first couldn’t explain which factor contributed to the 100.17% increase, while the second claimed the hike was due to our dog’s age — he turned 3 years old on October 31, 2024. They also mentioned that location and breed could affect rates, but neither could provide specific details on how these factors applied to our situation.
In the end, the decision is yours, but based on these facts, I would not recommend MetLife dog insurance to anyone!

Truly the Best
I wasn't a policy holder for very long, but I must say that I was quite impressed with Pets Best when it came down to claims, explanation of benefits, and being every bit what I would expect an insurance company to be. My dog became ill suddenly - it was barely seven days time from the noticing she wasn't eating much to holding her while she drew her last breath. I was devastated - we didn't know what was wrong with her and her health declined so rapidly that we couldn't even run the testing needed to determine the problem without killing her…that feeling of utter despair of seeing her in need and not knowing what was wrong coupled with not being able to do anything about it is something I hope no one ever has to experience. So as one could imagine, I wasn't looking forward to having to deal with the claims and handling the insurance, but Pet's Best made it hassle-free. I used the app and uploaded my documents for four claims in less than an hour without having to speak or explain anything to aynone. I received an email confirmation for each one when it was received the next day, and was notified again a few days later by a message confirming that Pet's Best had all that they needed from me to proceed. The piece of mind this provided me was priceless and I really appreciated the communication with them - straight forward, not complicated.or time consuming - I even received an email within 5-6 days apologizing for the time it was taking to process the four claims, which was helpful again in managing the stress of having drained our savings in our futile attempt to help our friend. I had even forgotten to cancel the policy and didn't realize it until I had been charged for the third month, and all it took was a 45 second conversation with an Pet's Best customer service rep to have my policy cancelled, my payment refunded, and the previous month's payment pro-rated and also returned. It has been two weeks today, and I just received the email this morning that my claims are finished and telling me when I should receive my payment. Thank you for making it easy to be a customer! When the time is right and an addition to the family is made, I will be using Pet's Best again."

Duke 3 Yr Old Shih Tzu
"We have a 3yr old shih tzu who had digestive/gastrointestinal problems, dehydration, and pneumonia. We intially took him to Thrive Pet Emergency but he was transferred to Blue Pearl Animal Hospital, San Antonio in Crital Care Condition. We paid for his care and filed a claim with Pet's Best Insurance. The claim process was very simple. Duke's Claim was processed in a timely manner. Thank you Pet's Best. I have recommended your insurance to every pet owner I come in contact with.👌 "
