My experience with Healthy Paws was NOT positive. I am proactive in my discussions with my vet about my dog's welfare and will ask questions about the smallest things. My vet keeps meticulous notes for reference. Well our discussion over what we thought at the time was an insect bite on my dog was exploited by Healthy Pets to decide that it represented a preexisting condition. This in light of the fact that is was not until much later that a decision for more extensive testing and leading to an actual diagnosis was completed. So first claim denied and any future claims for any type of tumor, even though they are usually unrelated conditions, would also be denied. So if you are proactive and have a vet who is conscientious in record keeping, then beware of Healthy Pets insurance. They will exploit the smallest detail to deny a claim.

In March one of my dog's was diagnosed with Addison's disease and needed 3 days of care between my vet and one overnight stay at an emergency vet clinic. The total costs was $1940.00. I received $1315.00 reimbursement after the remainder of the deductible was met. She will need daily medication and one monthly inj to maintain her health for the rest of her life. The inj cost $153.00/month daily medication $19.50/month. I have received better coverage for vet care through Embrace than VPI.

This is a long review but I think you'll find some details that will help you make a well-informed decision about why you should choose Healthy Paws. So let's start with the basics of why you'd want to become a customer - coverage. You have many options for coverage - different deductible and co-pay options, so you'll be able to find something that fits your budget and your insurance needs. Now let's move on to the coverage of illness/injury - you're simply not going to do any better with another pet insurance company. Healthy Paws covers way more than other companies do, and don't quote me on this one, but I'm pretty sure they even cover at least some holistic treatments. Then what about pre-existing conditions? Sure there may be just one or two, but that's it, and I find them far more than reasonable limitations. I don't even consider them really limitations at all, they are just no-brainers. So coverage is just terrific. And please, don't gripe "they don't cover routine healthcare items." Okay, they don't, and I don't expect them to. That's not why you're buying pet insurance. You're buying it to offset pet care expenses, and sooner or later you're going to have an injury or illness and you're going to face that question, how much is this going to cost me? As much as you love your pets, like we do, you're going to think about money. Well, let's simply remove that burden by having you become a Healthy Paws customer, and rest easy that you've got coverage you can count on. Nothing to worry about anymore. Now, claims handling. This is where many insurance companies stumble, both pet and human insurance companies. Nobody, I mean nobody, handles claims more efficiently or more pleasantly than Healthy Paws. They excel in this area. First of all, you can upload documents to their website to submit a claim. Or, if you prefer, you can download a form that pre-populates some of your specific pet information to make that a little easier. But just submit it online. If

Embrace is very user-friendly. I love that you can report a claim in multiple ways. I took a picture of my invoice and uploaded it to my embrace and it was done in two days. I am very satisfied. Also, their customer service goes above and beyond.

Murphy had an eye injury that could have resulted in his eye being removed. However, we were put in contact with the only animal eye specialist in Kansas and he is doing just fine. ASPCA paid all covered expenses. Murphy and his mother, Allie are rescue Shih Tzu we adopted 1 1/2 years ago from LAPP. We renewed our ASPCA policies again, but hope we don't have to collect in 2016! I have carried Pets Best on my dog for almost four years. It was great peace of mind even though I never used it - one very small claim the first year when she ate a chicken bone she found at the park. But recently she got very sick, and needed to spend two days in the hospital to survive. The vet thinks she ate a poisonous spider. The bill was huge. I carry one of the top plans for her with a low deductible. Pets Best covered everything but two small line items not in her policy coverage. But when I did need it, Pets Best was there for me. If you have a dog, you should have insurance on him/her, just like car insurance, home insurance, and your own health insurance.
