Service Degraded Over the Past Few Years
We started using Healthy Paws about 5 years ago. Over the past year or two since the company was acquired, the service and coverage has become more burdensome for me a customer and covered less aspects of a visit (some policy change and just incorrect classification of a visit). After submitting a claim, which is still an easy process, there's a high chance we'll need to dispute the decision. The last thing I want is to pay monthly for pet insurance only to have to deal with the hassle of slow to respond support when my dog needs it. I don't feel valued as a customer or confidence in the coverage my pet has when they may need it.
Looking for pet insurance? Try another company.

Rates increase as pet ages; policy options disappeared during pandemic.
Healthy Paws does indeed increase the premiums as the pet ages. I was misled into choosing HP for that very reason by various online reviews that are false. It's gotten to a point I can no longer afford the excessive rate hikes year after year. Also, soon after the start of the pandemic the options to adjust my policy disappeared, so I was no longer able to reduce coverage since my job hours were reduced. Looks like another "gouging" effort taking advantage of the disadvantaged. HP is an okay company for rich people who already have the money to pay for a pet emergency. Look elsewhere, and be sure to first ask how premiums increase year after year, as the dog gets older. Hopefully they will be upfront about it.
