EMBRACE: the best dog insurance company
I have been with EMBRACE now for 5 years with two dogs, and have not been disappointed once. Claims are handled expeditiously, and there are no surprises. My last claim was a whopper. My black lab has elbow dysplasia and needed a canine unicompartmental elbow (CUE). The bill was slightly over $5000 and per my policy, 80% was covered. I regret having to make a claim as this is a serious operation for my dog. Thanks to EMBRACE, in 6 months I should have my hiking companion back.

Labs will eat anything
Our chocolate lab got into some form of mold or mushroom spores and became ill. Knowing we have Embrace made paying the bill so much less stressful. We had our payment within two weeks. We are very pleased with the personal attention we get from Embrace and the speed with which we get reimbursed.

Every pet parent should have this insurance!!
Like anything else, I was skeptical about Petey's health policy. It is like any other insurance: you buy it and hope you never need it. Well three years in, we finally needed it, and I could not be more impressed. The reimbursements are more than fair, and they come very quickly. I have been telling every pet parent I know to stop procrastinating and get the ASPCA Pet Insurance!!!!!! Thanks ASPCA!!!

Excellent and Empathetic Service
They are very empathetic on the phone and they pay very quickly - not a lot of drama or technicalities. You do still have to pay for exams, which can add up, but generally it is very good coverage, especially in the case of a disaster.
Unfortunately, my dog got into an accident with a car and suffered a head injury. She had also had Giardia a couple of times and an eye infection. So I wound up submitting nine claims within six months, due to the fecal samples, eye problem, meds and then the emergency care for the car accident.
The dog had terrible luck with her health, but thank God I had Healthy Paws. Healthy Paws was also tremendously empathetic and sent me a letter with their remorses after the car accident, because I had, very sadly, yet humanely, decided to put her down since she couldn't move her front legs.
As difficult as it all was, at least I had Healthy Paws to back me up, and I will definitely go with them again.

But this insurance the moment you get your pup
I hate using insurance because it means my dog has problems, but this insurance has really come in handy to get through the hard times. Every time I go the specialty vet I recommend Embrace highly, and ask the staff to mention you if anyone asks.

Happy to Have Insurance!
I have a 14-month-old bulldog who has had a bunch of small issues--UTI, some skin issues, an emergency allergic reaction (relatively minor, thankfully, though scary). Embrace was super easy--I had multiple claims, submitted from 2 providers, and everything was received, evaluated, and paid out in less than 3 weeks. Their customer service is prompt and thorough, and the direct deposit to my checking account makes reimbursements even more convenient.

Healthy Paws is THE BEST!
My Mastiff/Shepard mix needed a TPLO surgery on her right rear leg just after having one done on her left rear leg 5 months ago. Healthy Paws completely covered the both surgeries AND because I could not afford the upfront cost did a direct pay to the veterinary office for me. They are truly the most compassionate pet insurance out there. They truly care about your pet. Thanks to Healthy Paws my two furry babies have access to the best health care!

Very Glad we have this for 3 Cats
With 3 cats, it is a revolving door to the Vets. It really pays to have pet insurance. Just one emergency can wipe out your finances. one of our babies has fragile health, and ASPCA has really helped out. Also I love the idea of supporting the humane treatment of animals.

Reasonable coverage, nice people, paperwork sucks
I like the model of the coverage here - basically the premiums are reasonably low and the coverage only kicks in if your bills go above a certain amount. This works well.
Everyone I've dealt with, by phone or email, has been really pleasant and helpful.
The paperwork to file a claim is a lot more onerous than VPI, which is where my elderly cat is insured (couldn't move him over to Embrace, he was too old to start over). For VPI, you just copy the bill and write a short explanation on their form. For Embrace, I had to get my vet to do it and then they even went back to my vet's for more info. It was a real nuisance for my vet and required a full couple of hours of staff time. Fortunately I'm a really good client so they were willing. But it was a pain, no question.
So, based on the reimbursement model and the customer service, I'd recommend Embrace to other people who have basically healthy animals and a good relationship with their vet that can withstand these P-I-T-A requests for information.

Important to have
I have been in the position where I could not afford to provide the health care needed for a pet. I don't like to be in that position. Health insurance for my pets are as important to me as health insurance for myself. The ASCPA plan I have had for two years provides this coverage for my pet. I don't always need the coverage, but I feel good knowing it's there if I do need it.
