Worth it!

Healthy Paws made it very easy for me when it came time to submit my first claim. Their customer service representatives were always available to chat over the phone, and each step of the way was so simple (especially with their great Android app!). When it came time to be reimbursed, all I had to do was snap photos of the invoice, submit them through the Android app, and a few days later I was notified a check was on its way. I highly recommend using Healthy Paws for your pet. Without it, I would be facing approximately $8,000. in surgery bills for my dog. Instead, I'm only going to be paying about $1,000. Well worth it!

Thank Goodness

I'm a first time pet-owner and recently adopted two healthy kittens. At 5 months of age one of them began to lose his balance, sometimes crashing to the ground and banging his head in a potentially dangerous way, and the vet discovered a polyp in his inner ear that would require surgery in a distant town. I was shocked, largely because my kitten had seemed healthy, and could hardly have been more worried about my furry baby. Then came the even bigger shock of the $4,000 bill for the surgery, to be paid upfront. Not only was I feeling sick with worry, I was also losing 3 days of work and couldn't help feeling upset and overwhelmed by the expense. I had purchased Healthy Paws pet insurance when I first brought my kittens home, but wasn't sure that I would be able to count on them in my hour of need. It was with enormous relief and gratitude that I learned that they were covering 90% of the cost of the surgery (according to my particular plan) and that a check would be coming in the mail right away. The animal hospital simply faxed my invoice to them, and they responded the very next day to let me know my claim was being processed, and possibly even just a few hours later to let me know how much they would reimburse me. It's expensive to be a responsible pet parent, and I've felt the pinch of paying for spaying/neutering, immunizations, and high quality food, but I'd never expected my seemingly healthy kitten to get so sick. I can not recommend Healthy Paws highly enough.

A++ Above the Rest

STOP LOOKING AROUND! Let my experience save you time and from reading the reviews of other companies out there. I spent 3 days (6-8 hours each day) researching all the pet insurance companies available to me for my fur babies. I chose Healthy Paws based on research, reviews, ratings and price comparisons. I am so happy I did. I made the right choice. My newly adopted and street rescued pup after several months of top notch care and training ended up lame. The lameness continued with appropriate vet care and watching and waiting, meds, therapy and still increasing got worse . Finally it was decided the front elbows both had FCP and needed surgical intervention as soon as possible to prevent further damage. Knowing I am not independently wealthy, scared of the bills I would incur, I decided no matter what it needed to be done for Murphy's health. So my vet sent me to the best surgeon in our state 3 hours away and now we are on the road to recovery. I could not have made these important decisions and saved this puppy from a life of pain if it had not been for healthy paws by my side and they had my back! 100%. Yes I paid a slightly higher premium than other insurance companies quoted me but they did NOT decline my claims (as other insurance companies would have done). They covered me just as their policy said they would. (IF ONLY HUMAN INSURANCE COMPANIES WERE AS HIGH QUALITY) Don't hesitate. GO WITH HEALTHY PAWS! The even checked up on my little guy to see how his surgery and post op care was going. I feed my dogs the best, we train our dogs fully, they have jobs and are our fur babies. I can't imagine what I would have been faced with if I had bought insurance from another company. Healthy Paws stood beside me and reassured me that they had my back. I don't need a insurance company to pay for the office visits or yearly inoculations and monthly preventative treatments. I have that built into our yearly budget for our dogs. What I needed was a piece of mind that if there was ever a accident, illness, or injury I could make clear logical caring appropriate decisions without having to worry about the financial aspect. Having that freedom from having to worry about "how am I going to afford" something unexpected that comes up is a HUGE piece of mind for me. I am a FOREVER Healthy Paws customer. I do not feel the need to look at the other companies, ever. Thank you Healthy Paws. You stood by what you sold me without a hassle or a fight. Your definitel

Very impressed!

We obtained our policy just 2 months before a very expensive ACL tear. Even though we'd submitted our Orthopedic Report Card immediately upon policy acquisition to eliminate the waiting period, I was still expecting some push-back from Embrace given how short a period we'd been covered for. I was pleasantly surprised that they honored our claim and reimbursed us promptly for the coverage amount we'd selected and without any hassle. They have definitely renewed my faith in insurance companies : ). I couldn't be more pleased.

Wonderful company

Just want to say that I have been with Petshealth from the beginning and they are a great company. Customer service is great and they are fast on claim refunds. I recommended them to many friends and they all had good experiences with them.

No knot in our stomachs.

Our younger dog developed a "growth" in the roof of his mouth. We saw our vet immediately, and he felt we should have the growth removed. As to whether or not it was cancerous had yet to be found out. The surgery was going to be expensive. Before getting the ASPCA insurance, the minute one of our dogs got sick, we would be debating as to whether or not the dog HAD to be seen by the vet and would we be able to pay for the appropriate care. Now, we still try to make a "reasonable" evaluation, but if we have to go to the vet, we know that we won't have to make a panicked financial decision; our insurance will likely cover the majority of our bill. Oh, incidentally, the lesion was not cancerous, but to eat it needed to come off.

So grateful!

Our dog Oz had a bout of bad luck back in November 2015. Our vet and the surgical specialist worked with us and the team at Embrace to make sure everything was in order and that the right forms were filed. The Embrace team has great customer service and communicates via email with any changes or updates in claim status in real time. I have been recommending them to anyone we see on our walks.

Constantly raising rates and changing "exclusions"

I have one dog who's 6 and just got 2 other dogs from a kill center who were both just over one year old. I got VPI pet insurance on all 3 dogs and initially was satisfied with the coverage. Then VPI started adding "exclusions" to the policies of my 2 newest arrivals. The eye infections were not covered and would not be in the future; they had chronic diarrhea for a couple months and VPI determined that should be a new exclusion; VPI paid a whopping $75.00 for an annual health exam, which costs over $200. I had regular coverage and major medical. They my insurance rates began going up and up; coverage that began at approximately $54.00 per month per dog was $74.00 per month per dog just 4 months after the initial policies started -- and VPI NEVER informed me of the rate changes (I had an auto pay plan and a $250 deductible for each dog). I ended up cancelling all the policies because the cost to benefit ratio was just not worth the hassle and whenever I called VPI to question a non-covered item (which was covered in the initial claims) the representative always said "this is not normal health insurance." What??? Very disappointed in VPI and told them so when I cancelled all 3 policies.

Very happy with Embrace

Hard to say if one can be "happy" with an insurance company because you never want to have a sick pet and need to use the insurance. I appreciate that Embrace has a healthy pet discount so that your deductible goes down over time if there are no claims. However in the last year I have had one dog that had cancer, another who had a helicobacter infection that led to IBD, and another who had an encounter with a porcupine and a kidney infection. A rough year for the pups. My dog with cancer died the day he was diagnosed so there were no ongoing treatments requiring insurance. In the helicobacter case, she required ultrasounds, biopsies, and meds for a couple months. My other dog's cases were fairly reimbursed. Embrace exceeded my expectations. Now I hope to go back to not making claims for a LONG time!
