Savings for Elmo!
Elmo has always had periodontal issues, I have been so lucky to have nationwide pet insurance. I don't worry about taking him in for dental cleaning. His last visit required 2 extractions and those were covered as well. He receives care from a reputable vet here in town and I know that he's getting the best care because I have the best pet insurance.

Good
Like the coverage, it has been very helpful since at times my dog has issues with ears and allergies. Making the monthly premiums does help when you get portions of what you spend bake at some time later to reimburse what you have spent. It seems like at times it takes a long while to get information back after sending in receipts to know what amount will be covered.

Very quick and easy
This is my first experience with pet insurance and it has been great. I was sent the simple forms and instructions for submitting a claim and they give you email updates in the status of your claim! Check refund came quickly! I’m very happy with nationwide !

Payment mix up
As the surgical veterinary center didn't process insurance, I had to pay them directly. Then when I came home and filed the claim, Trupanion seemed to process it to them, rather than reimbursing me directly. It is still not settled -- so my "jury is still out."

Mostly Positive Experience
I feel that the time it takes for claims to be processed is incredibly long. I have had other claims for auto/renters/home that have been processed in a matter of hours, so I know that with a big company like Nationwide, it is very possible to speed these processes up.
I am glad that I decided to get pet insurance for the most part. I was disappointed that when coverage plans were improved when VPI moved under the Nationwide umbrella, that my pet, who was still very young, did not qualify. I have recommended VPI to many friends since joining, and I feel that there wasn't much loyalty to existing customers when that happened.

Great claim processing
Nationwide claims are processed easily, quickly and accurately. The only wish I would have is to be able to submit the claim through the web portal rather than the need to scan and email (or send through the postal system) the claim form. Overall the process is hassle free and I received the reimbursement quickly.
