Prompt reimbursement & excellent customer service!
We opted for Healthy Paws insurance after doing a fair amount of research online. We are so grateful that we chose Healthy Paws b/c after having the insurance for 4 months, our 7 month old Hound-mix (Maddy) had to go to the animal hospital for a severe GI bug/fever/diarrhea issue. When we took her to the vet, she was shaking uncontrollably and we didn't know what was wrong with her. She was kept overnight for IV fluids, antibiotics, X-rays, blood work, and stool samples.
$1550 later, we were concerned about how much money we would be reimbursed. My fiance's car had died the week before and we were trying to plan/pay for our wedding in 2 months. So Maddy's illness came at a horrible time.
Healthy Paws had a $1220 reimbursement check in the mail within a week!! It was an amazing relief.
My fiance & I recommend that you get the 90% coverage plan; it pays off when you might need it the most.
Maddy has made a full recovery and we will absolutely keep her insured with Healthy Paws for the rest of her life, as well as insure any other dog we might adopt in the future.

Positive Experience
I carry insurance on my pet just as I do on the rest of my family, as I consider my per part of my family. I realize it seems costly, however, I never want to have to make a life or death decision based on money. Embrace has been responsive and I have not had to agrue with them regarding coverage as with other insurance companies (not just pet) I appreciate the ease of filing and their in touch communication. I give them a 10 for doing what they say

Outstanding Coveraqge
We've had Trupanion since our dog was 12 weeks old. He is now 2 and I highly recommend this insurance! We've had a couple of claims and Trupanion came through with no issues. They are very responsive and care about your pet as much as you do! But the best part about Trupanion is peace of mind. No one wants their pet to become ill but having Trupanion, I know my pet will be cared for without having to worry about a high bill.

Buyer beware on "pre-existing" pet health issues
We have had three cats covered by the ASPCA Pet Insurance plan since 2008. In general the plan has provided the type of insurance support advertised. Most years we had no claims or claims less than the cost of purchasing the insurance. However in 2013 we have had a major challenge with the insurance plan. We submitted an insurance claim for a $2,500 procedure and it was denied because we had crossed 11 days into a new coverage year and because the pet’s illness had begun earlier it was now considered a “pre-existing condition”. After discussing on the phone with the ASPCA Pet Insurance claims individual and the supervisor, who were professional in their interactions, their answer was still to deny the claim. Even though we have been continuously covered for 5 years for all three cats and had not submitted any claims for the earlier veterinary assessments and felt that there was a change in diagnosis prompting the major assessment, it was considered “pre-existing”. In fact, no matter what the diagnosis or how slow the progression of a disease if the ASPCA can prove that at any time (even a day) earlier in the previous covered year there was any indication of illness then its “pre-existing” and not covered. Anyone signing up for ASPCA Pet Insurance should be fully aware that if their pet becomes ill at any point in a covered year and they do not fully resolve the illness in that year they will not be covered when the new policy year begins, no matter the reasoning. We obvious

Overcharge
One of my two insured dogs had a cancerous lump removed from his leg. When I recieved the report of my claim for this illness, Trupanion broke it up into several different incidents and instead of paying the $250.00 deductable, I actually was charged, inaggregate of $288.00, all for the same illness.

Fabulous
Jackson began coughing violently and gagging then swallowing rapidly. We took him to the emergency vet in Richmond and he sedated him to look down his throat to see if there was a blockage. There was no blockage but his right tonsil was inflamed. They xrayed him to see if he had swallowed something ,but that was all clear. The thought was that he had an allergic reaction to an unknown substance. Could have been a spot cleaner used to clean a carpet spot that afternoon. We were very lucky and he has been fine since. I submitted the claim to ASPCA insurance by mail and I think it was only a couple of weeks that I received a check that covered most of the Vet bill. We were so thrilled and pleased with the way we were treated. I just received a call from a woman with ASPCA insurance checking to see if we needed anything or if she could answer any questions re: the insurance. She was just so nice and it was like talking to a family member. Cant say enough nice things about the pet insurance we have for Jackson. Thank you to everyone.
