Total Scam
3 years ago our dog had begun to lick and chew on her tail. We eventually had to have it amputated. This claim was covered by ASPCA. It took several months to receive a check. The claim was $950 and ASPCA gave us $400 back- not so bad. After her surgery she healed and was fine for over a year. 2 year later she began to chew on the tail again. We battled with this second issue for over a year. The doctors didn't want to amputate it again and instead kept prescribing medicines to help with nerve pain. Our dog finally became so fixated on her tail at one point that we took her to the ER vet and they proceeded with amputating her tail a second time. Our claim ended up reaching over $4000 for the year+ that we spent taking our dog to the vet and for the surgery.
ASPCA looked at the claim as a pre-existing condition and denied the claim. In their policy they state that 180 days constitutes as a waiting period in between injuries, however, they kept suggesting that our dog was never "cured and clear" of the injury. They hold all of our medical records directly from the doctor that show no indication of our dog being seen for anything other then a regular check up.
I put in an appeal for the claim and received a letter with new excuses for denial. One, being that the claim was not submitted in a reasonable amount of time since the start of the incident. If we were battling the incident for over a year, then what do they expect? We submitted the claim immediately

I Wish My Own Health Care Insurance Was This Good
Trupanion has made the process of submitting claims painless. In just a matter of a few days I have received notice that my claim has been accepted, approved and processed and payment is on the way. It gives me much peace of mind to know that my pet's health care needs will be taken care of and that I do not have to consider the financial feasibility of treatment. I have called customer service to get questions answered and everyone there is very friendly. They even asked me about how my pet was doing after treatment. They seem to truly care about my pet' well being.

HealthyPaws embodies the best in pet insurance
Rocco is a typical, very healthy 70-pound Bracco Italiano puppy. Like all of us, medical issues come up and I wanted to be sure from his earliest puppyhood that we would be protected against "major vet expenses" in the event of a catastrophic accident or such. Thank G-d, this has not occurred but I know HealthyPaws will be there for us should we need them. How do I know this? Because each and every minor medical issue that Rocco has had, HealthyPaws has been there with us. They are extremely well organized and claims are processed nearly immediately, usually within 24 hours. I could not be happier with my choice and already have friends who have chosen HealthyPaws at our recommendation! My only hope is that they will add "Bracco Italiano" (i.e. Italian Pointer) to their list of breeds...! :)))

Ease of mind
I am very impressed with Healthy Paws. I was skeptical when I decided to get pet insurance for my little rescue dog. She is 8 lbs as an adult and a mix, so decided to give it a try. Now 18 mo later she had to have an emergency stomach surgery due to blockage and the bill was $1800. So I sent it off to Healthy Paws. Their claims process was so simple and efficient and I received my reimbursement within 30 days. I believe Healthy Paws is honestly better than my personal medical insurance and am going to add a pet to the policy.

Excellent coverage and customer service
We have two Sealyham terriers (2 years and 1 year) and will be getting a third puppy who we will also be insuring. We had been with another major pet insurance company for approximately 10 years with other animals we had. That company was covering less and less compared to when we first were submitting claims. When we got our now 2 year old Sealy, after researching with our vets' offices as to which carrier seem to be the most popular - especially when it came to covering alternative modalities like acupuncture, laser therapy, etc. - Embrace was the carrier that seemed to be recommended. Having puppies always seem to involve trips to the emergency vet plus other miscellaneous issues that come up, and we have been extremely pleased not only with what is covered under our Embrace insurance but the turn around time. We have recommend Embrace to other friends and neighbors and will continue doing so.

Healthy Paws is true to their word.
While paying a monthly premium is a cost I hope I don't have to use, knowing that Healthy Paws is there if my dog Monk does have a medical problem gives me tremendous peace of mind. The high price of veterinary care is less of an issue because of the generous compensation plan and the speed with which Healthy Paws responds.
Another plus is the company's financial commitment to animal rescue.
The follow up email checking on our beloved pet's recovery is the icing on the cake!

Outstanding
My cat was first diagnosed with a mast cell tumor requiring diagnostic testing and fairly extensive surgery by a specialist as it was on her lip. Then 5 months later after that, she had a bout of enteritis that required testing to diagnose, and a 24 hour stay of supportive care at the ER vet. Having Healthy Paws allowed us to do what we needed to do for her medically without stressing as much about the financial aspects of getting her the care she needed. They cover exactly what they say they will cover; no hidden surprises. They processed my claims within 24 hrs of me submitting it to them, and there was a check in my mailbox within one week, and even e-mailed me after each incident to see how she was doing. Their monthly premiums are affordable and bring so much peace of mind as I have come to find out!

Excellent service, excellent coverage
I can't say enough about Healthy Paws. Their website is easy to follow, their claims process makes it easy to submit documentation -- the whole process is simple and efficient. They are so quick to notify you of receipt, to make a final determination, and to send back reimbursements. I am thrilled to have them on my side. Not only are they easy to use, they are quite caring and thoughtful. They personally reach out to inquire regarding the health of my dog when she is ill. I always feel like Healthy Paws is my partner, and one that is on our side.
I have used other pet insurance carriers with previous animals -- though now I will only use Healthy Paws.
