This is my first time obtaining pet insurance. I've heard some not so positive experiences from Vets and other friends about delays or denial of claims and I have to say, not only did they contact me within 2 business days about my first claim but they've already mailed my check for the entire wellness exam. I have not set up the direct deposit yet but I'm very glad to have that option which I'll take advantage of after writing this review.The only thing that would make this experience more perfect is if the Vets would work directly with insurance companies like Embrace that maintain excellent reviews by their customers!! I have insured my dog through Healthy Paws insurance for two and a half years. We have been through giardia, a dog bite, a broken toe and most recently a toe amputation (those are only the ones I remember). Healthy Paws has been consistently wonderful through all my dog's mishaps. The speed in which they process the claim and reimburse is amazing. I highly recommend Healthy Paws to anyone who is looking for pet insurance.

My sweet German shepherd, Blaze, was having increasing difficulty walking, getting into the car and negotiating stairs. An M.R.I. was indicated to further diagnose the problem. This was only possible because Healthy Paws paid 80% of the cost, after the deductible of $250 was reached. The M.R.I. indicated that Blaze had multiple (6) vertebral discs that were variously degenerated and bulging, two of which necessitated rather immediate surgery. Spinal surgery is not a simple matter--not physically, for my dog, nor financially, for me. Again, because of the support of Healthy Paws, this life saving surgery was made possible for Blaze. As always, they processed my claims immediately and within a week, a check for 80% of this very hefty bill was in the mail. It turned out that once the surgeons had opened up Blaze, they discovered that one disc was much worse than the M.R.I. had revealed: it was actually fused to his spinal cord. It was only because of the superior skill of this Board certified neurosurgeon that the disc was removed with NO injury to Blaze's spinal cord--a 4 hour procedure, 2 - 8" long incisions, and 4 days of hospitalization. Nearly, 2 weeks since the surgery, I'm happy to report that Blaze is making a remarkable recovery. I look forward to the 8 week mark when he will be free to run, chase balls, and tussle with my other shepherd. This pet insurance is the BEST! When my little friend came home in January I started looking into insurance for him. Everyone I spoke to about pet insurance said " don't waste your money, pet insurance is a scam and they will find every reason not to reimburse your claim". I did my research on the internet and found Healthy Paws and purchased the insurance. My little guy got sick a few months later and needed a lot of blood work and the bill was over $500.00. My claim was handled immediately and I was reimbursed for the entire claim minus my deductible and the office visit. It was so easy and the customer service is outstanding. Every time my vet turns in another claim on my wild woman female 5 year old sweet but crazy hunting dog, I am so afraid that Embrace will cancel me! But they never do. She seems to be accident prone as she is into everything and comes out with skin tears and punctures and cactus spines (and yes even a skunk) and since every thing she comes across goes into her stomach, something concerning that will undoubtedly come up! Embrace has covered all of these things - I am very pleased. It is comforting to know that we are covered should anything serious (very expensive) happen.

Purchasing pet insurance was the best idea I ever had, and I couldn't be happier with my choice of provider. I spent a lot of time reviewing different companies and reading reviews, and it was ultimately reviews like this that made me choose Healthy Paws. I wanted a company that could help me manage my crazy puppy. And I found one! I've filed a few claims since starting my plan less than a year ago, and I've been satisfied with the way each one was handled. First, I want to say that I did appreciate their pre-existing check. All I did was send all of my medical records in that my dog had incurred and they promptly responded telling me what was and was not considered preexisting. Maybe I should preface all of this by saying that my dog manages to get into things and do things more than any other dog. Loves eating things he shouldn't and playing places he shouldn't. He had parvo when I first got him, so obviously if he got it again that wouldn't be covered, and he had it before I purchased pet insurance. He also was prone to eye infections and so that was considered preexisting as well. Other than that he was cleared. My first two claims were simple ear infections, and as promised they reimbursed me for my level of reimbursement except for the exam fee, received a check within a week. Company denied claims because they applied to each of them an individual deductible ...since one was for an intestinal infection and the other for a conjunctivitis...it meant that I was made to pay again and again for each condition and only a chronic one would qualify for reimbursement,,,

Our experience with Healthy Paws has been nothing but superb! They are helpful, responsive, and, after checking many plans, we found they offer a superior approach to pet healthcare. It's clear their first concern is our pet's well being and their mission to help homeless animals as well as to support good care for pets with homes is simply terrific.
