We decided to get pet insurance for Abby when we got her based on her breed and thought it was a good thing to have. BOY are we glad we did! She was diagnosed with chiari which in itself is expensive with the mri's etc...but there are other issues that come with it. WITHOUT embrace we would not have been able to afford the treatments etc.... definitely recommend to any pet owner.

Recently I spent close to 4K on my 12 year old dog to have a fatty tumor (non cancerous) removed from his leg. It has significantly improved his quality of life, but it certainly decimated our finances. My mother had a 3.5K bill for her dog that swallowed parts of a dog toy and my sister has spent over 10K on her dog treating Valley Fever. Both of the other two dogs were under 6 years. I now carry health insurance on my other two dogs as they are active in the water (injury potential), attend doggie daycare (easy to pick up other diseases), travel with us (could get lost), live in the woods (disease & injury potential from wild predators), etc. The only negative is that there is a lot of paperwork your vet must supply in the beginning. Also the orthopedic exam has to be done after their insurance date. So it will cost me another vet visit.

Our puppy had an accident while being boarded, he was so excited to see his buddies playing while he was in his kennel so he decided to try to bite his way out of the kennel. He came out with a very bad broken tooth and the root exposed. The Vet diagnosed his tooth to be broken all the way down past the gum line and gave us several options from removing the tooth to having a root canal and crown. We went with the root canal and crown option which ended up being close to $2700. Since it was an accident Healthy Paws covered the majority of the expenses and we were able to get a refund of 90% of the total amount. My wife and I are so glad we chose Healthy Paws, they were super helpful with the claim process, they even check in with us a week later to check on our puppy's health. I would recommend Healthy Paws to anyone.

My dog Spartan was recently diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. This was one of the most heartbreaking experiences for me as Spartan is my soul dog. Embrace was incredibly helpful to me in getting his health information sorted out - they made phone calls to a vet that was very hard for me to get in touch with. They were always incredibly helpful to me and very sympathetic to my situation. In the end they covered all of my sweet boys procedures and I have 100% confidence that we are covered for life! I have had VPI for several years, would cancel except my dogs are seniors at this point and would be difficult to insure. I have done nothing but waste my money on premiums with VPI, the standard they use to reimburse claims is pathetic. Of course, if I had read the policy before enacting it, I would have never done so. The limits and exclusions, as well as the total benefit they will pay - regardless of your claim. Do your homework, and don't waste your money on this insurance.
