Horrible company-do not recommend.

This is an awful company. I work in public health and deal with health insurance companies on a regular basis and nothing that I have ever dealt with is comparable to what this company does. They have falsified conditions on claims that I have submitted so that they could claim the condition was pre-existing. My pet also had a severe health issue that occurred on the last day of the waiting period and continued to persist, and they would not cover it because anything that occurs within the waiting period is also considered pre-existing. Do not use this company unless you enjoy throwing money away every month.

Healthy Paws has been great!

Healthy Paws has been great at handling our claims during a particular hard time when our french bulldog is suffering from issues related to allergies not yet identified. Pippa (our frenchie) seems to be reacting well to the treatment and hope to finally address the itchiness that has persisted for months now. Healthy Paws was for sure the best choice for pet insurance.

Horrifying Situation Easier to Bear

On May 9, 2017, every dog owner’s nightmare happened to us: an unleashed, uncollared neighborhood dog left his property, made a beeline for my dog and I while we were out for our afternoon walk and brutally attacked her. Letty would have been killed had she not sought safety under an SUV. She spent the next week in a critical care unit at a veterinary hospital. The costs for treatment quickly mounted. Healthy Paws responded to our claim quickly and without any complication. They accepted the claim fully as it was submitted without argument. This enabled us to give our beloved pet with all the care she needed. Healthy Pets, along with all of our friends and family, made this horrifying situation easier to bear.

Amazing service!

We were blown away at the level of service the staff provided. We never expected our dog to need the insurance when we first purchased it. Then she was injured and Embrace helped us through the claim process. The kept us updated and answered our questions. But mostly; they cared! Thank you.

The person I spoke with was patient and knowledgeable about the specific case, however I was highly disappointed in the resolution to our claim.

The person I spoke with was patient and knowledgeable about the specific case, however I was highly disappointed in the resolution to our claim. The reasons our claim (ectopic ureter) were rejected were incredibly arbitrary (drinking too much water) and both our vet and trainer wrote letters of support that this shouldn't have been considered a preexisting condition for the purposes of the policy. (We had just rescued our second dog and he had some behavioral issues that were being addressed by a trainer, including over consumption of water.) Trupanion used vet notes where we mentioned that our new pup drank more water than our old pup, and sometimes urinated in the house, as the basis for rejection. We have policies for both of our dogs (and have had the other policy for 2+ years). We have only filed claims once before, but were under the deductible so have never once benefited from having the policy. This would have been the first time that we were eligible and it seemed like we immediately were excluded for the most arbitrary reason. It left a very unsatisfied reason regarding Trupanion and we are highly considering canceling our policy, as we don't have a good feeling about future interactions with the company.
