+ if you start young good, otherwise not
So, it's a bit frustrating because we started out dog young on the plan and it turned out to be very helpful when we found out our dog has terrible environmental & food allergies, but the food allergies causes us to have to feed our dog prescription food that costs $87 a bag of dry and $78 for 24 cans. Trupanion was reimbursing us 50% when suddenly, 2 years in, they told us "OOPS! We made a mistake, we were only underwritten to reimburse you guys 50% of the food for 2 months, but we won't recollect back the money we saved you"... WHAT?!! :| Seriously?
*sigh* Basically Now that we chose Trupanion as our provider for our then puppy, we will not find another insurance company that will cover our now dog for a good price, so, we're stuck with Trupanion or no coverage, which we can't do because of costs, which have gone up every year BTW, so, be prepared for that!
Our little dog, was already an older dog when we signed him up and those monthly payments did nothing for us so we currently have gone down to the minimum of $1000 deductible for $35 a month premium. We're contemplating getting rid of that too, but we're afraid he'll get a tumor and then it will have all been for naught.

Better than my health insurance company!
I have two dogs: a german shepherd & a lab. They will be a year old this month. My lab is very much a typical lab: curious & clumsy. In the past year she's eaten the Christmas tree, half of a chocolate cake, and split her ear in half while playing outside. Without my healthy paws pet insurance I'd still be paying off her vet bills. My german shepherd isn't clumsy but he is more likely to get sick. Both he and the lab had mites which required medication with a pretty hefty price tag. The scariest vet visit we've had so far was (two) emergency trip/ to the vet that ended with two overnight stays. My shepherd was diagnosed with pnemonia with a dangerously high fever. The lab had a mild version of the same illness-an upper respiratory infection without pnemonia. They've had several rounds of antibiotics, cough medicine, nose spray, nebulizers, and of course the ever expensive hospital stay. Healthy paws has been amazing. I send a picture of my invoice and within days i have a reimbursement check. Through these past few weeks alone our bills would have totaled over 3,000 dollars. Thanks to healthy paws we're only paying about 500. Every pet parent should have healthy paws--thanks to them I can sleep at night knowing my babies are covered! I did a lot of research before purchasing and healthy paws lives up to their reputation 110%, they even email to check in on how my dogs were doing after their recent illness! I would never went to be faced with a decision between the best care for my pet and my wallet. Luckily with healthy paws I don't have to.

Healthy Paws had our back when we needed it most!
I have had a Healthy Paws policy for both of my cats, Diva and Dweezil, since May 2014. Recently, Diva started coughing chronically and, one day, started to breathe through her mouth. Anyone who's owned by a cat knows that this is a serious emergency. An oxygen chamber, four IVs, two steroids, and one very stressful night later, Diva was out of the ICU and back home with me (and several bottles of medication). She is on the mend now, but as anyone who loves a cat will understand, this has been a harrowing, stressful, awful experience emotionally. On top of that, the veterinary bills, prescription costs, and emergency room visit would have been a horrible burden. But Healthy Paws greatly alleviated that stress: they processed most of my claims practically within hours of submission, kept me well-informed of the status of each, and promptly sent me reimbursement checks once I had met my deductible. They even sent me kind emails checking up on Diva's health. I feel like she and I both received the highest level of individualized attention. To me, it shows that the people at Healthy Paws truly care about cats and dogs and genuinely want to make their lives better. In Diva's case, they have certainly succeeded.

Not raisins!
This was new to me....raisins are bad for dogs. What is also new to me is pet insurance. However, Embrace came through and I must admit I was 100% satisfied.

VPI is really saving us!
I have nothing but good things to say about VPI. We had a different insurance when we first adopted our dog--a rescue who was 5. I switched to VPI because I had heard good things, and they have been fantastic. Chester had no care the first half of his life, and had a few medical issues when we first brought him home. Now, he is a senior, and with that, came arthritis, thyroid problems, and now heart problems. We have had some really big bills of late, and VPI has been reimbursing in a very timely manner, and covering quite a bit. It has paid for itself and then some. I am so thankful we have the cushion of knowing we have coverage!

Supportive and Fast
My cat had to have surgery after eating a jacket string. The cost of the surgery was over $4,000. Healthy paws walked me through my first claim. It was easy to do and fast. Each staff member I talked to was genuinely concerned for our cat and showed their love for animals. I highly recommend Healthy Paws Insurance to anyone that has animals.

Thank goodness for Healthy Paws!
Our 4 month old Westie had to have an emergency endoscopy last weekend. The procedure was necessary and thankfully successful. Hours later we left with medicine and a substantial bill but most importantly a groggy but healthy puppy. The next day, I submitted our paperwork to Healthy Paws and they were wonderful to work with. Exactly one week after the procedure, we received a reimbursement check. We are so thankful that we had insurance. We have been pet owners for over 30 years but this is the first time we ever had insurance. It was one of the best decision we've made.
