Excellent coverage for sick ragdoll kitten
I have had a wonderful experience using Healthy Paws Insurance. My 6 month old ragdoll kitten, Teddy needed emergency veterinary care which included a 3 day weekend in the hospital with an internal medicine specialist. The vets were not sure what was wrong with Teddy and said many possibilities such as "he may need a blood transfusion, he may be neurological etc etc..." - for once in my life I was not worried or stressed about the money because I had Healthy Paws. It felt so different to deal with a pet illness and not have to worry about the financial side and only instead focus on making sure that your pet receives whatever treatment is necessary. So far, Teddy has had $4,600 in veterinary expenses in a short 6 week period. Healthy Paws has delivered exactly the coverage that they stated in the policy and has covered 80% of eligible expenses. This made a huge difference in my finances. Now we have three pets on Healthy Paws, my mother has her cat on Healthy Paws and my mother-in-law has her two pets insured as well. I am recommending them to everyone that has pets - this has given me so much peace of mind and it has enabled me to afford the type of excellent veterinary care that I want my pet to receive.
I hope that they do not drop us after having such a large claim for such a young kitten but I don't think they will as we have two other pets insured.
I would also like to note that we had another pet that died of heart disease. He was insured by Healthy Paws but we did not file any claims because his heart condition was revealed before we got coverage for him. Healthy Paws mailed us a sympathy card with HANDWRITTEN condolences from multiple staff members at Healthy Paws - I thought that was extremely thoughtful and it really made a difference in how we view the company.

Nationwide is always available and very helpful
I always have some bizarre questions about anything regarding my policy and Nationwide has ALWAYS been very patient with me. If you're a pet owner like me where your pet isn't just a pet, more like a child to you, Nationwide is definitely the insurance for you. The vet hotline is VERY helpful. You can call in or chat with them with whatever questions or concerns you may have. They're always very nice and walk me through anything I need assistance in. It saves you a trip to the vet or answers any questions you feel the internet can't, or just need another opinion on. My dog is my world and I believe we are in great hands with Nationwide.

insurance claims results
I was so pleased with Molly's insurance plan. Her claim was processed and was reimbursed for about 80% of her bill (this was minus some of her deductible) within two weeks of filing the claim. Thank goodness her results came back from the lab as benign.

Embrace made it possible for my Gus to spend more time with me
When I took out health insurance on Gus I did so just on the possibility that he might injure himself while duck hunting. For his first five years he became a trusty hunting buddy but as dogs do he became a member of the family. I never filed a claim for routine care or anything. Just kept the insurance for that improbable accident. Then I noticed one week lumps in his neck. Sure enough it was lymphoma, the worst kind. The vet said he had maybe two months. But because I had health insurance I took Gus to a pet oncologist and she confirmed the worst. I called Embrace about the possible treatment. They said it is covered, just provide the necessary information, forms, and receipts. Gus started chemo immediately and is halfway through his course of treatment. Because I caught it right away and sought specialized care and Embrace responded immediately Gus is progressing well with a good prognosis following completion of treatment for years of remission as opposed to losing him by now. Thanks to Embrace and their caring and responsive staff. John

Great Insurance Plan for our Doberman
We have files several claims on behalf of our Doberman, Tanner. With the exception of one claim where we had to provide more documentation, our Nationwide Pet Insurance policy has been great to deal with. Claims are easy to file and the reimbursements are most helpful as vet bills are quite high for just about anything.

Embrace finally came through
My dog had bone cancer in a leg that had previously had arthritis. Embrace initially denied the claim as pre existing. I needed pre authorization to amputate and they denied it. Meanwhile we went ahead with the surgery to save his life since time was of the essence. After multiple letters from my Vet and phone calls from me they finally authorized. I think they probably deny claims thinking people won’t pursue. I don’t think this is unique to this company as I have experienced it in human insurance as well. But ultimately they came through. Just a reminder to pursue if you feel like an insurance company is in error of your claim.

LOVE this insurance policy!
We spent significant time looking at various plans and doing comparisons. In the end, we went with Embrace. SO happy we did. We included the Wellness Care option with or Plan and were skeptical about how long it might take to get reimbursed for covered Wellness Care expenses, but our worries were unfounded. We get reimbursed (via automatic deposit directly into our bank account!) quickly and get to use a quality Vet of our choice - PERFECT! We are VERY happy with our plan and enjoy knowing the simple things are covered (grooming, annual visits, etc.) and that we will not be blind-sided should the unexpected happens.

Nationwide Pet Insurance did what it said it would do for me.
I had VPI insurance for my dog for years and was happy. So when I got two new dogs, I got Nationwide and am very happy with them. I have not filed a claim in the 5 years I have had them until now. I was pleased at the explanation of benefits and Nationwide covered what they said they would. I will continue to tell others that it is worth it, even if just for the piece of mind and security. I never understand the criticisms of pet insurance and the not paying on a claim? You get a puppy from health tested parents, you feed them a species appropriate diet, use titers where appropriate, and you should have few problems. When you do have an illness, or an injury, pet insurance is there to take the sting out of it. That feeling of not worrying about if you should take your dog to the vet because of the cost, frees you up to focus on your pet and their care.
