Pet insurance? Absolutely, it's so worthwhile
My dog recently had to have polyps removed from her ear, a procedure that was important lest they turned out to be malignant. The total cost of the procedure was around $700 and my insurance with Trupanion covered it completely. Owning a pet costs money and that's fine, but it's the unexpected emergencies that hurt the pocketbook. That's when having insurance with a good company like Trupanion is critical. Unlike some nightmare stories I've heard from other pet owners, Trupanion was amazingly efficient and fair in their assessment of he procedure and very quick to send a reimbursement check. This is health insurance at its best. In rating Trupanion between 1 and 10, I'd rate them 100. They're that good.

Always Great and Prompt Service
I have had Ebrace for years for my dog, and recently have had multiple claims for illness and surgeries. Even though some of the claim outcomes were disappointing (periodontal/ tooth infections not covered as an illness apparently, and a supplement that was covered previously will no longer be covered),the claims and customer service staff were always very prompt and attentive, and always responded to my questions and provided explanations with courtesy and kindness. Overall, I am still happy with Embrace, and will continue to refer them as the best pet insurance available.

As Claimed
I am new to the world of pet insurance, having resisted for the first few years of my Shih Tzu/Pomeranian's (That's Shiranian, thank you!) life. But I am so glad I made the investment in my pet's health. Just after purchasing, my poor pooch experienced a bout of gastroenteritus. Luckily, after the usual tests, nothing unusual appeared - no parasites, etc. Then a few months later, again she experienced similar symptoms and a bigger vet bill. I filed my claims diligently, and while there was some issues getting the vet practice to fax over her entire file, Embrace stayed on it. Then just a few weeks ago, my baby had her worst bout yet...vomiting up coagulated blood! I rushed her to the vet for emergency care, amounting to xrays, bloodwork, and several medicines to soothe her defiant gut. Colitis due to diet, and a $650+ bill! Despite the annoyance of a vague diagnosis (yet relieved she is fundamentally healthy dog), I am sure glad that after meeting my deductible with this visit, and paying my 20% copay, Embrace, true to their word, reimbursed me $384! And thank goodness too, as the holidays are upon us. I am pleased with the personal, professional service they give, and feel much more confident knowing that should anything truly disastrous occur (which it WON"T!!), they will be there to assist.

Worst experience ever.
Would not recommend this company to anyone. Continually asks for same information, over and over. Vet faxed information over 4 times. When Embrace could no longer deny they had the vet information, they then said they did not have copies of the claims. Claims miraculously appeared and then they came up with excuses not to cover the expenses. Claims took EIGHT MONTHS to handle.

Excellent
I'll say what is near and dear to my heart - reimbursement. Yes and Pets Best Insurance is unbelievably fast. One day turn around. Amazing. They are very fair. The policies are one of the best, if not the best. I researched several and have been very happy with my choice.

Embrace came through when we needed them!!!!
Our 9 year old retriever mix had a catastrophic accident that resulted in two shattered front legs. I was expecting a lot of red tape and exclusions of coverage disputes from Embrace as I had had with a previous insurance carrier. Not the case!!! I submitted the bill along with the vet's notes and received a check for our policy coverage limit- no hassles. What is even more impressive is that our pets continuing care for this accident is still being covered in the new plan year. I know that other companies would have cut off coverage for this accident after the the policy limit pay out. We deeply love our dog and having Embrace insurance we were able to make our decisions based on her best care rather than monetary considerations. I highly reccommend this insurance company.

Very Bad Experience All Claims Denied
My newly adopted rescue puppy has had every claim denied and Healthy Paws says it's due to his pre-existing conditions. He had a bit of a cough at his first wellness exam and Healthy Paws has taken the opportunity to lump everything, including a bout of diarrhea, into one diagnosis and not pay. When I asked for more detail on the Explanation of Benefits they were rude and short with me. Barely anything went towards the total deductible. This insurance would be fine if all you need is catastrophic coverage. But there is no wellness coverage. Read carefully before you sign up.

They always come through
Our dog required a follow-up surgery when a mastocytoma was not completely removed. The surgery was over $3000 because a specialist had to enlarge the margins of the prior surgery and remove a flap from her belly to cover the large wound. Embrace paid everything other than our deductible and take home meds. We have had several claims over the years and they have always been reliable in paying what they say they cover.
